florida peeps...here we go again

yea it looks like the northern gulf coast states will be getting the storms this year. Sorry to say but I'm glad they are going somewhere other than central florida. It's still very very early in the season though so I could be biting my tongue in the next couple months

...I'm gonna be honest, I dont really know "why" per ce...HOWEVER, I do know one thing, and that is why you should go to bed...because I ate an orange watermelon today and have never felt so confused in my life and in order to rid myself of this confusion I must boss some one around...so, I picked you.

Ummm, I seem to recall this little hurricane called Ivan, which was supposed to be a Cat3 but broke the anemometor at NAS Pensacola at <155MPH winds. Will be upgraded to a CAT5 when NOAA finishes thier damage survey.

This bastard hits here at any greater than a Cat2, I'm moving back to PA and I'll shovel snow the rest of my days.

one thing ive learned is that those 5 day forecasts are never right

Yeah, I know, but I need something to bitch about today. Was a relatively good day after Cindy stopped raining on us.

I dont know where I got it from...cant remember. But I thought i bought a regular RED watermelon...Nope. After I cut it, I just sat there and stared at it...I actually pulled up a stool and started taking down notes as to how this could have possibly happened.

and yes, it makes me happy that you are going to bed...I feel empowered now...like a a babybooming female in her twenties.

I wish I could have purchased a generator. Whenever a miracle hits and we get to build our house, I'm gonna have one of those industrial autoswitch generators installed so I don't have to worry about the power going out

Models keep sliding east which isn't good for Floridians.

Here is a track of hurricane cleo which started out a little like Dennis

You should see the run on gas cans up here today. I stopped to fill up my work van, and there was a line at each pump four cars long. One pickup had the entire bed filled with gas cans and was filling each of them.

Remember your bathtubs can hold about 30 gallons of water, fill them up so you can flush your toilets. Kiddie pools as well. Take empty milk jugs, fill them with water and freeze them, will give your deep freeze and refrigerator extra cooling time when power is out.

as of 5pm advisory, Dennis is already at Cat3 with 115mph winds

It should weaken some by passing over western Cuba, but will strengthen again.

I bought about 20 disposable propane bottles for my camp stove, new wicks for all my hurricane lamps, filled any available space in my deep freeze with ice!

Hurricane Pennis is close....

I've had yellow, but not orange.

Shit ... it was just upgraded to CAT 4. It's going to be a fucking monster before it's done.

It should be back down to a low end 3 or a high 2 by the time it finishes with Castro, I hope.

Once it hit the warm gulf it will be a 4 when it hits fla/bama

Be quiet, I know quite a few people who still have blue roofs that won't be too happy! I-10 East bound is still one lane across Escambia Bay, I doubt the bridge will survive another one.

150mph winds thats a monster
so far its projected to stay west of the hammytrail, but i never trust those damn things until they pass me

Man, Cuba is getting straffed right along the whole western side...

I bet our friends at guantanimo are freaking out in their cages outside..

lol......that might be funny to see

I wonder why Cuba has a website with radar image if cuban people is not allowed to have computers.

Prisoners in Guantanamo should be held outside naked.

Gas is gone, maybe 10 gas stations open in Pensacola, none on the barrier islands. Here's a couple photos of the gas lines at a BP on the West Side of Pensacola near the back gate of the base. Lillian HWY & Blue Angel PKWY for people that know P'Cola

Good luck panhandle brothers. Last night we had some wind gusts of up to 60mph in south FL with heavy heavy downpours.

Thanks

Our local weather guys sure fucked up this prediction. Yesterday they said Dennis would reach Cat4 but enter colder water and barely be a Cat3 at landfall.

Same here, they were talking about the colder inland waters would lower its strength :(

Its gonna be a cat4, and I am not in the eyewall right now but will be in hurricane force winds. I'm in a brick ranch with a high privacy fence. Even screwed my front door and garage door shut.

good luck orb
the tide is wayyyyyyy up here this morning from the storm surge and its supposed to get a few feet higher when the high tide hits
they were showing pics on the news of big metal polls in town that had snapped in 2 from the wind and we only got the outer bands of the storm here

Umm do you know if your garage door is certified as cane proof? If not, screwing it down won't matter as it'll start flying off piece by piece. You're in the zone man so hopefully your windows are boarded up. Don't forget that the reason roofs fly off is because a window breaks, causing the pressure to drop inside thus causing the roof to go.

Here's what a met who works at KSC said to do

Tell him that it's too late to evacuate and that conditions will become much worse within the next hour. He needs to have blankets, pillows, and a mattress (or two) ready in an interior room away from windows on the lowest level of his house. He should also have water and tools nearby this safe room, as well as a battery operated radio or NOAA Weather Radio, plus a flashlight.

A brick house that is boarded up should be able to withstand Dennis's worst, but garage door and possible partial roof failure seem possible. Treating the situation like a tornado would be the best course to take at this point.

Yeah, check in to let us know y'all are ok.

I can't believe we have to go through this shit again and hurricane seasons is just beginning.

I think they said Dennis is the strongest to his the coast this early in a hurricane season since they've been keeping records.

What's next?
