Flexing and posing as exercise?

Isometrics, I believe. The extent of their benefit varies from person to person.

Be careful not to blow a gasket if you have high blood pressure.
 
Bro i have always wondered the same thing- it has to help as it is contracting the muscle and putting it under stress- if anything mainly for cutting, def. not gaining as u need more resistance and movement! But yeh i do it all the time and notice leanness and fullness also. my wife looks at me strange tho but she knows i am already!
 
Isometric movements are really popular in some branches of the martial arts, so they have to serve some purpose.

Muscle endurance, maybe?

I'm sure a stress like that would engorge the muscle with blood, making it fuller, as well.
