flea control and pets

ok i think i let my grass get a little too long or something. i found one flea on my dog last night. i had her on that bio spot flea medicine however i don't think it worked well. i also treated my yard with flea/tick/insect pestacide.

i'm guessing i'm going to have to flea bomb my house to make sure those bastards don't reappear.

also went and bought advantage for the dog and applied it to her. she was about 3 weeks into the bio spot.

what does everyone do to prevent this? i thought i had it all covered.

ok being serious here, chop up some garlic very fine... and also get Fresh lemons and rub the dogs entire body with it. If you add garlic into his/her food a few times a week the fleas won't want nada to do with it. then Bathe him/her in lemon juice.

I raised German Shep's for years and this was our method and worked like a charm.

lol the lemons to get rid of the garlic smell

No they really don't, but actually kill the eggs. The garlic wards off the fleas. I was really freaked out by it at first... I didn't believe it but it does work.

very interesting method frisky. but not sure about actually doing that. the advantage should have rid all of the fleas on the dog.

Frontline from day one in the new house kept them from even getting started.
Its not number one because it just works OK.

Once they get in, it tough to get them gone.
I spray the house and yard for bugs, but not specifically for fleas.

don't listen to anyone who is considered by the government as a natural disaster. *cough Frisky cough*

No Pest Strips. unless you have pet Tarantulas. keep them away from water dishes, atleast 10 ft. they will kill every insect in your house. flea eggs included.

Weird thing was i could only find one flea on her.

I'm going to fog the whole house this weekend. I sprayed the bottle kind last night.

I was using frontline then switched to bio spot, i'm going back to frontline or advantage now. I just used advantage on her last night.

Our neighbors dog had fleas, she may have gotten it from their dog she was playing with the other dog in the morning before i found the flea. I even spray a part of their yard with insectacide when i do mine. lazy bastards need to keep their pets cleanier.

IMO, this is how it happened..

We also have found maybe 1-2 fleas on one of our dogs over the years
due to neighbors dogs. Good news is they won't last long on the dog.
