Flax without the Flack

In the shake - you get so used to it you don't even taste it anymore...I hope you are not just chuggin it - talk about instant barf.

Don't get the caps, massive rip off.

This is wrong. You don't want fat in your PWO shake. You need to spike your insulin levels with simple carbs and whey isolate. Adding fat will slow down the absortion. Not to mention that high insulin levels and fat will lead to fat gain.
Use it in a shake or just suck it up, or down, and drink it like I do.
 
I just eat it w/ the same spoon that I eat my ANPB w/....that way it actually doesn't taste bad at all. And I usually leave my PB spoon in the fridge so its built up a nice PB crust :)

I mix 2 Tbsp with my spinach. I actually like the taste. It seems like a lot of people cant taste it at all when they mix it in to their shakes.

I have read alot about flax oil, I hope this is not a stupid question, but can I get it at a grocery store, and if so, where? Thanks alot.

yes you can! A lot of stores have an organic/natural food section.
I've also seen it in the refrigerated section by the butters and spreads.
It is very widely available though.
Kinda on the expensive side though.
A 12 oz. bottle cost me about 15 buckaroo's.

This is an Old-School (back from May 2001) quote from an EF member... It shows that people has been discussing how to drink their flax for the longest while. I did a quick search andI found the same story over and over again: Some drink it, some shake it, some cook it (OMG), some take the capsules (dumb), some don't do it at all (dumber).

I will just repeat myself: just drink it... there are much worse things in life.

LOL, just be a man and drink! And just be glad that flax oil exists, otherwise you'd be drinking FISH OIL as your omega-3 source. Now that stuff is nasty! :evil:

aye.. slow the absorbtion is PRECISELY my gig.. i dont do the invert sugar mambo like most PWO plans and my results have been accellerated for the change... that haveing been said, without the presence of the inverts or satan sugars there IS NO insulin spike, thereby no 'fat pack' based upon such.

A thousand ways to skin a cat my man.

If it works for you that's cool, but with all the research clearly illustrating that immediately after training you need quick acting carbs and protein to recover quickly.
 
the oil will provide you with EFA's...essential fatty acids. these are important to get into your body on a daily basis. in my opinion it's something a lot of people don't realise.

getting the actual seeds has its benefits as well....just make sure you grind beforehand and store them properly so it doesnt go rancid.


i agree with makavelli on this one...after training dont you need to get the protein balance back to being positive..leading to fast muscle recovery...by creating an insulin spike. the insulin hormone is what allows the carb and protein stores in the muscle tissue to be 'refilled'...so providing enough protein and quick absorbing carbs pwo is ideal isnt it?

I've been doing this for years with great results. I also work with lots of athletes, including BB's, and with several of them I made this simple change. About a month later they couldn't believe the difference this small change made.
