flax vs fish oil

if the caps are taken is there any disadvantage to having hundreds of caps dissolving in your stomach every month?

No but it is way more expensive than liquid

Fish oil is clearly supperior as MrMakaveli pointed out, however you have to deal with the issue of contaminants in them, and taking huge amounts can be an issue. Flax is a great choice even though you only have ala instead of the epa and dha present in the salmon oil, however you can increase the conversion rate of it into epa and dha if you keep your n-6 to n-3 ratio in check. Personally, I use both. Currently I do 6 grams of cheap salmon oil caps, and 6 tbs of flax a day.

what about hemp oil...been taking that myself lately,in addition to 3 grams of fish oil and flax as well

Hemp oil is omega6, not omega3, no?

If you were to have a single source of fat hemp oil would be the best one (w/ UDO's)

The average western diet is so totally out of wack with the Omega6 to Omega3 ratio that I will have to disagree with that comment. The ratios are as much 16-1, hence the need for Omega3 supplementation, or so I was led to believe. Why would I want to add MORE omega6's?

That's why I said "If you were to have a single source of fat "
(ie you follow a very strict diet)

But in our diet we have a couple of sources of fat (oil, meat,....) which have a too high w6/w3 ratio, hence the need for Omega3 supplementation
