flax seed oil capsules?

I bought a bottle of flax seed oil caps at the whole foods market the other day. My wifes sister then told me that they arent worth a damn. Is there any benefit from taking the capsule form, or should I be getting the flax seeds?

i take them,... fish oil is a little better than flax... although not noticable.. efa's are worth a damn

what she was saying is that the capsule form isnt worth a damn. That your body doesnt absorb it in that form. She said I need the flax seeds, or actually get the oil.

the capsule dissolves... and the oil is in that. same thing imo

I have heard to monitor the shelf life on the oil caplets carefully, as flaxseed oil can turn rancid, ensure the caplets are not exposed to sunlight.

As far as whole flaxseeds, it is better to grind them up as the shell can survive the digestive tract like a tomato seed.

My wife boils up flax seeds for about two hours before feeding them to the horses for their digestion. I think there are some toxins which the boiling destroys.

As far as oil in capsules goes: there should be no problems. It's just an airtight wrapper and it saves having to taste the oil it as it passes down. If it goes rancid I expect you'll be belching unpleasant flavours and you'll soon know about it. :)
