FitDay and totals

So I did a ton of research on calorie content and such on a bunch of foods. Came up with a diet that I could handle. Bought the foods, prepared them, and started using FitDay. Here's the problem, I designed the diet based on the information that I put together from lists of calorie/fat/carb/protein contents that I found on the web. With that I knew exactly where I would be. Usig FitDays info I come out in a totally different place. With everything that I'm eating today I'm at 969 calories, 18 g fat, 102 g carbs, 97 g protein. This breaks down to 18% fat, 40% carb, and 42% protein. Problem is, my calorie intake is 531 less then where I should be. What the heck!!! My proposed diet is in my log if you want to check it out. It worked out perfectly before using FitDay....what happened?

Oh, and my goals are 20% fat, 40% carbs, 40% protein. So that is in check, but the calories seem MUCH too low.

Are you inputing your own numbers or using the Fitday macro breakdown?

I used theirs on some and mine on some-depended on how close theirs were to what I had. Sorry-I know this doesn't read real clearly, I'm at work and doing 700 things at once:)

Sometimes Fitday's numbers aren't for the "specific" food you are eating. If the package is in front of you, I would use the package numbers. Usually, my log will be a little different than Fitday just because of the above. Does that help any?

Yes, thank you:) This is going to be silly, but I assume it's not good to only consume 969 calories per day. Right? Therefore, should I also assume that my "diet" sucks and I need to try again?

Well, I can't remember your stats right now, but if you need to increase your calorie intake and you already had your foods decided, just add more of the same foods.....and there you go!!!!:)

when i used fitday- i had to use their "add custom" food option on the whole diet. it got to be a pain but their food choices never matched the nutrient info on the food. go figure:rolleyes:

I found this to be true also , that is why I switched to Calorie King. I typically only have to use the "custom" features on my personal recipes :Chef:
