i picked up some fish oil capsules from the store the other day and have been taking 1 a day so far. how many of yall take fish oil to help with cholesterol and how much do you use? are there any other benefits to fish oil?

I would take in about 20-30 grams of fish oilwhen i was pre-contest.
that would be like 30 gelcaps though...
I usually get the Carlson's fish oil that comes in liquid form.
It is more potent and cost efficient.
But since you have the gelcaps i would take around 6-9 caps a day.
they are loaded with healthy fats that help burn fat and lubricate joints.

this should probably be moved to the Nutrition Forum

I read somewhere once that too much fish oil lowers libido...I don't remember where.

I take 4-8g/day. Fish Oil is one of the best fats you can consume. Right up there with Olive oil, CLA, & Flax.

Those 4 should be the only fats you take in if possible.

I take mine 3 x per day with meals.

one gram of fish oil per each % of body fat you carry. I too like carlsons liquid, but I also use caps throughout the day for convience

There are several T nation articles suggesting mega-dosing fish oil (30-45g), even in the bulking phase. The improved insulin sensitivity, fat oxidation, blood flow would have to be balanced against the anti-inflammatory properties of fish oil, which may counter against high dosages in bulking.

However, given that the evolutionary ratio of omega 6/3 fats is something like 2/1 to 1/1, the current medical recommendations of 1-2g of EPA/DHA per day seem inadequate.
