First Thread Need Help

I would like to first say this site is amazing and thanks Curvy for recommending this to me. I had weight loss surgery about 7 months ago and would like to hear from experienced members about building lean mass. I don't want to bulk obviously because I just came from Planet Fatty, but I would like to put on about 3-5 lbs of muscle and trim down to about 10-14% BF. Here are my before/after pics. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey James!!! Great to see you here. I KNOW you will get some great advice from these guys.

Are you using tinypic.com to upload your photos? Your avatar looks great but your photos aren't showing up in your post.

Talk to you soon!

Whats up good bro. First off welcome to the site. I hooked you up with a free weeks plat to help you search the site better.

We all love Curvy here so if you are even have as nice as she is I am sure we will like you to.

Lets get right down to it. We need age, height, weight, years training,bf% and what kind of surgery did you have.

If ou do not want to take a trip back to fatty vile then putting on lean muscle is exactly what you want to do. In short I think we all can agree muscle burns fat ad makes us all look good.

No need to worry about getting fat as long as your diet is clean and you are training right. So I would also like for you to post up what your daily diet looks like, and what a weekly training for you would look like.

Welcome James

I posted a thread here, have a look and see what your numbers work out too. I'm currently at work so I have avatars turned off and when at work typically don't look at picture links so I can check when I get home. Once we figure out what your caloric intake should be for the day it makes it much easier to tailor a diet for someone based on their goals.

Are you keeping track of what you are eating currently?

:) THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! I feel at home here! I will start my research and keep you all up to date on my progress!

Looks like you've had a pretty amazing transformation james! Congrats! Can you give us an idea as to what your diet and training looks like right now (as needto asked)? Are you following a doctor recommended diet due to your surgery? Are there guidelines you need to follow since the surgery has been fairly recent?

There are ways you can eat to turn your body into a muscle building, fat burning, metabolic furnace...but we want to be sure you are in line with your doctor's orders/recommendations! :)

As for training, give us an idea of your weekly routine...both weight and cardio or whatever you may do for exercise (biking, hiking, basketball, etc.).

So, you're 5'11" and 179 lbs. @ 17% and sounds like you'd like to be about 185 @ 12%. I think that's very attainable and maintainable for you. You may find it easier to put on even more muscle mass once you get going towards that goal (due to your body type).

There's a lot of people here who can help you out in your journey! Best of luck!

Hello James,

Congratulations on your weight loss, no easy feat, and most people never manage to do this once they get big.

You are in the right place to do a recomposition of your body, which means you will be building muscle and taking off fat.

When you do this, the numbers on the scale become a bit irrelevant, so tracking progress with pics, tape measure, bodyfat (and the scale, but don't let it rule you) are the way to go.

There are stacks and stacks of great threads on this site.

Feel free to read all you like and come back and post your diet, training routine or any questions you have.
