The best way to inject is to have someone else do it, but I know that isn't always possible. Being a 18 delta (if you know what that is congrats) for 10 years I've given, well, a lot. I prefer what is called the Z track method. Depending on your dominant hand...... rub top of bottle with alcohol, pull as much air into tube as you are going to inject into yourself, stick needle in bottle, without touching the liquid inject the air into the bottle, push needle into liquid, draw your amount, remove needle from bottle, alcohol swab your injection site, pull skin over and taunt with left hand, insert with right hand, let go of skin with left hand, switch hands so you are now holding the tube with your left, slowly inject with your right, count to 5, remove like you would throw a dart only backwards. The purpose of holding the skin over and taunt is that once the needle is removed, the skin moves back to its original position and "covers" the injection site. You will get a lot less bleeding (you shouldn't get much anyhow) and with practice less bruising. I am at the point now and my wife is as well, that after a day you can't even see the injection site at all. You will be safe with 1.5, no worries, no pinch. Rec. you use 22 guage, don't ever use the same needle twice. Hopefully this helps!
