First day squatting with bands...

And i have to say it's quite a sensation...did some quick speed work with 275 for triples with a light band double cinched at the anchor...i have no idea how much tension this is...but i am guessing it's a decent amount...

Anyone have any idea...

Light bands are 50lbs when stretched to 6ft. (Per the Jumpstretch web site.)
Take a look at the top of your lift and guess-timate how far the bands are stretched. You can get a good ball-park figure.

EDIT TO ADD: I believe B-Fold uses the DB method to check his. He attaches his bands to DB's to hold them down, and when the DB juuuuust holds it down, you know pretty much how much tension you have. Same with plates.

I dont know if there is any accurate way to gauge how much tension their is.
It depends on where you anchor them at. Their will be more tension anchored with plates or dumbbells vs rack pins.
Someone 6' tall is going to get much more tension at the top of their squat than someone 5' 5". Also how much the bands have been used will be a factor. They will slowly wear out and be weaker. I think westside replaces their bands every six-eight months.

I don't squat with the light bands much...I mostly use the heavy bands at the lightest. Last week I used 2 sets of heavy bands...and it was H E A V Y.

I really don't feel much tension at all with the light bands.

Looks like they change them up from time to time.

Here is a quote from dave tate on bands...

We change the main bands ( the bench ad squat bands) every few months and use the older ones for the max effort and supplemental work. we do this so the bands keep the heavy tension.

Well for one thing I doubt your bands get used as much as the ones at Westside, they probbaly have many guys use em several times a day, a few times a week

If it gets loose wind em tighter. Anyway they are just a tool, nothing to sweat life and death over :)

yea good point. I'm thinking that they are community bands, rather than 'persies'

True...but i did feel some definite change in tension. Thing is it's the first time i have used them so i guess my body is gonna have to adapt...

Then get a pair of minis and heavys...
