I was talking to my boss on Thursday about some of the things that he did when he was powerlifting and I realized really quick that he was a little obsessive compulsive about it too
He would take a video camera and point it at a white wall or sheet and take about 30 minutes of video of nothing but a solid white wall. That is tape I.
On tape II he would video himself deadlifting. He would also put a piece of white athletic tape on his shoulder, hip, and at the end of the bar. He would pull several attempts, even up to a VERY heavy attempt.
Then he would put Tape II in the VCR and watch it in slow motion over and over. While he did this, he would take dry erase markers and put dots where his hips/shoulders were and mark the path that they took in correlation to the bar. He would also draw the line of the bar path on the tv screen also.
Then he would take that tape out and put Video II in the VCR and watch just the white screen. The white would allow him to see clearly all of the marks that he had made on the screen with the dry erase markers. He could then tell when and where the bar path was and if it was any different as he started pulling heavier and where the bar path was when he finally missed a weight.
Pretty cool idea, could probably be used on deads, squats, and bench...maybe even OHP.
