Finding a calorie balance that provides you muscle gains/fat loss same time

EVERYBODY WANTS THIS, RIGHT??

We all know that there is a balance like that. Dr. Berardi call is G-flux. Someone else calls it under different names.

The explanation is that, with certain type of nutrient intake, once you find a sweet spot for calories, you start to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. So your weight usually stays the same but your body composition changes dramatically.

G-flux also tells something interesting. Let's say you are burning and eating 3000 kcals a day. That means no tissue gained or lost. But once you bump it up to 5000, interesting things happen and you see great body composition changes.

We have these info's in theory, what about the practice???

Who has done it?? (Also with and without steroids)

EDIT : WHEN YOU INCREASE CALORIES TO 5000 , YOU ALSO TRY TO BURN 5000 KCALS.

Great thread!! I been wonderin this.

I think I may have done it last cycle. I was consuming around (maybe less) than BMR on a keto diet. I gained abou 10lb muscle and lost a lotta fat (16% BF - <9). My composition changed drastically. My weight increased only slightly.

That was on test/ tren.

last cutting cycle test/tren i ate around 2500-2800 calories a day...started at 206..ended at 191 and all my lifts incresed dramtiocally...now im just maintaning...so there it is possible to do it with drugs..not sure about without though,..think id be to tired

Am I missing something? Increasing calories increases muscle size. But not without gaining weight? Oh, because the incresed calories increase metabolism? Yeah, right. If you exercise and/or use anabolics of course.

Is this from one of those wacky T-Nation bullshit articles?

I kinda take the lee priest approach to bodybuilding. bulk up big then diet down. it seems the easyest way for me.

That works best. Otherwise, you're working against yourself.

There are two times when you can grow muscle and burn fat at the same time. You can do it when you're just starting out and your body is super responsive to exercise. (Which is why it's retarded to use steroids at that time).

The other time is after years of training and you have a lot of muscle memory and you're just trying to maintain a stable weight.

lol

I do believe it was one of those zaney T Nation articles. I do have a lot of respect for John Berardi though. I think Micheal Phelps would be a good example of this theory. We have all seen his crazy 10k calorie diet and the guy spends countless hours training. I think the average bodybuilder does not have the ability to pack away that much food and train eight hours a day to see this work.

i don't know why it is so difficult to understand calories in excess of need are stored as fat.

Nelson,

I didnt explain it clearLy, i guess. Berardi is saying that , for example

Burned 3000 kcal Consumed 3000 kcal == no tissue change

burned 5000 kcal (with exercise mostly) Consumed 5000 kcal === Dramatic body composition changes

So when burned calorie rate is very high and same amount of calories consumed properly, that is when it happens
