Finally I can squat 3 plates!!

Well sorry this is off topic but I am so stoked. I just finished my shoulder/legs workout this evening. I have put up 300x1 before but was feeling strong tonight. After warming up with less weight, I loaded 3 plates on each side and asked for a spot and told him to only help me if I said "help". I psyched myself up and went in for the kill. I lowered slowly (ASS TO THE FLOOR), paused then grunted and pushed it up no problem. After the rep I was like "thats it?" so cocky me tried for another, although halted after raising about 6" and lowered slowly down (thanks cage)! Don't worry I have squated for a long time and my form is good and lower back very tough and I know it is not smart to max out on squats very often.

The funny thing is I am 7 weeks off my first cycle and haven't lost any strength and have gained in a few exercises. Bodyweight is 200 at ~11%bf. Squats are my favorite exercise and I hope I get a much needed growth spurt in my upper body. Thanks for reading!

imo - stop juicing and lift more... your still a newbie

I was re-reading my post and I don't remember stating that I wasn't a newbie my fault.

Anyways there is no standard weight that "everybody" must be able to rep with to bring them out of newbie-ville. I am not juicing now and am not planning on another cycle for a while.

Nobody should not nead to sauce to squat even 315 for a couple of reps. If your 205 and 11% bf you should be warming up with that weight completely natural.

My Stats . ..

I am 173 today. Squatted 3 plates on 3 sets of 7 - I went deep. I then went to the smith machine loaded up two plates and a 25 - did lunge type squats and legs gave out on 2nd set 3rd rep. I love the "catchers" they saved my life. No flame, but I bet you could do more wieght.
Just my .02

Shit I didnt hit 3 plates till my first cycle. I am also 6' 2" with the worlds longest legs. Its quite different when your tall, longer limbs means your moving that weight a lot further, exerting more force. Dont judge a book by its cover. Good job bro!

thanks for the encouragement bros! I am 5'10.5" so squats aren't quite so hard for me as for you hitmeoff. Nevertheless I am proud of myself and know more weight is on the way. I am happy to be gaining well after my first MILD cycle and am more strict now w/diet/training than during.

Exactly... let him have his moment. It's an accomplishment, i'm sure everyone here has them from time to time.

leave the guy alone, I forgot everyone squats 725 on here

Lets be real here....
If some cannot squat 315 for at least a double or triple, what should they really be thinking about, getting gear or getting their routine and diet up to spec? Today I squatted 445 for 5 sets of 5 and I am only starting to feel ready to take AAS.

WTF... guy hit a new record. Whatever it is, props to you

Exactly. Congrats bro.

Even if it was only a 225 pound squat or a 225 pound bench press who cares it's still an accomplishment.

wow tough guy....so you are stronger than him. good for you. strength has nothing to do with if someone should do juice. next time go brag to your girlfriend...maybe she will care.

Nice job bro, congrats on the lift.

Jezze some guys here just don't get it, this is one of the reasons I tend not to post very much, who friggen cares if he doesn' squat 500lbs a new pr for him is just as important if its 315 for him as 500 to the next guy, so you guys really need to lay off and give the guy a pat on the back.

OK, I have to say something here. I ignored this post a few times already, but couldn't let it go anymore. Honestly guys, I have seen several posts in the past where someone has posted a similar post about their new pr and they've been laughed at. I personally don't give a fuck about how much the next guy is lifting. If that was the deal than everyone would post their new lifts everyday here. Lets get real, it ain't worth arguing about, and lets be REAL, 3 plates is a fucken joke, and you all know this. The ones who are not posting on this thread don't want to get ragged on, so they don't say anything, I myself don't give a fuck and always speak my mind out.

WTF is wrong with some of you morons

half the juicers I meet don't even do legs, fuck I know a guy with 21 inch arms cold that never does legs, and trust me you would not say shit to him.

So just be happy that this guy is trying and doing it the right way, instead of just ignoring legs.

Hell 315 is still a decent lift, congrats...

, and lets be REAL, 3 plates is a fucken joke, and you all know this.

well it isnt a joke to him....and i am sure some of lifts are a joke to others to. have some respest.

next time keep going past the thread...no need for negative comments.

What is more impressive, someone that started out squatting 100lbs and now squats 315, or someone who started (at the same height/weight) squatting 250lbs and squats 315.....and who is going to most likely be bigger? I'll give you a hint, not the guy who started out squatting 250

the one that started at 250.....oh dammit wrong again:p

300, 400, 8000....Whatever the wieght it is who the fuk cares? The point here is that the kid never did that much weight before and now he finally did it. we where all at 300 at one time or another.....i guess keep up the good work....
Even though 300 for a 200 pound person is a little low in my opinion fuk it........lol
congrats bro.

id give you a dickhead response if i wanted to fall in with the crowd on this thread but...um...i dont.

congratulations bro. when i hit that mark i remember how stoked i was. its really a good feeling.

keep up the hard work...karma for you for ignoring the asses in this thread

Jesus, some of these guys need to post on the powerlifting forum and not this one.
I don't give a fuck about weight either. It's nice to be able to say you press a lot, but I'll tell you what--I know several guys who can bench or squat more than me and you'd NEVER KNOW IT. I look way bigger and stronger than them, basically due to genetics and training, and frankly that's all I care about.
I hate it when people ask me how much I bench. I don't fucking know. I don't wanna blow my shoulder out trying to impress somebody.
Good job bro--just remember to stay focused on your form and how your body looks. Don't worry about these internet tough guys.
Peace,
DAW

the whole point is, we don't need eveyrone post their prs here. If that's the case, every week I'll post my bench press. And then you go ahead and post your leg press and then joe will post his max curl, and john and so on...

Jc21 ..the whole thing is bro...it's an unnecessary post to brag to people who do this shit day in and day out...my .02 cents

Not putting anyone down so people relax and read the post. I'm sure he worked hard at it)

Elite's great for research if your starting out, but what sucks about this board is that there is to many A-Holes. This guy made an accomplishment and some guys here are basically calling it a joke. Honestly dicks, just STFU if your not going to post something positive move your Ego over to Triedia.com

Congrats on breaking the 300lb mark.

Back in the day, Colombo was stronger than Arnold. But who kept winning the O?

I know a guy in the gym who can leg press twice as much as me but put us together with shirts off and he looks like shit.

Nothing against power lifters or BB, but this guy finished a cycle and is still making gains! I can do 21 reps with 315, but I never made gains after 7 weeks of ending cycle either.

First off: congrats, a new record is a new record. On the powerlifting board 16-year olds are posting videos of getting 215 on the board press and are getting nothing but kudos from guys like brian mincher. There is no reason not to be as supportive.

For some people, being told they ain't shit is good motivation. But for most people "Good job bro, 405 is just around the corner" works best. So I would like to join the people giving you the 'attaboy.

Second: you should not have juiced if you were that far away from your genetic potential. I am one of the LEAST athletic fucks on the planet. I am not going to get into details but I will probably never weigh over 200# or have 20" arms. However I have squatted over 300# for 5+ reps. After working out for about 1 1/2 years. Never did a 1 rep max because it's too dangerous (accarding to my strength coach). But I tested out at over 400# on a balls-to-the-wall AMRAP test. So I also agree with the people who say you need to stay away from the juice for a couple years while you get your training, diet, and overall potential sorted out.

your still forgetting the role of genetics here, if a guy trains hard, eats right, gets enough sleep and his lifts aren't world record breaking it may be because he isn't genetically gifted with strength, to say oh you can't take gear as you can't squat as much as me and i have never touched gear is ridiculous

well done on the three plates mate, wish i could get that, to be any personal best is an accomplishment and a sign of good progress

Congratulations bro,

First of all all the people who flamed and made fun of this bro in my oppinoin are stupid idiots who will never go anywhere. Your the type of people in my gym that squat 4" down 6 plates and then run around thinking your beter than anyone with your chicken legs. I chalange most of you who comented negatively to do 8-10 reps using 3 plateson each side free weight all the way down slowly from top to ass to floor and without locking out on top without using a weight belt. Realy you should try it sometime.
Second everyone has their own strenght / body composition. He made an achievement and thats what matters plus im willing to bet he looks 2x better than most of you comenting negatively. This is just a hunch. Just last cycle i had this idiot who put on 5 plates on the squat bar on smith and went down 2" for 2 reps with a training partner. He was walking around stoked and i could see it in his eyes how he looke down uppon me deep inside lol for only doing 4 plates all the way down myself to floor without belt for 10 reps solid for a few sets without a spot. I just eventualy burst out laughing in his face couldnt help it.

Congratulations bro dont listen to these iamture fools anyone who is fairly big will tell u the same.:)

no shit... so many of those who think that 315 is "nothing" wouldn't be able to get a single REAL rep w/that weight... congrats on the PR bro and don't listen to the haters...

Yeah, I don't where all of you live, where I workout I rarely see people squat or deadlift at all less alone with heavy weights. When I do 315 I feel like a big dog for that reason alone :D and I am not big.

I'm in Miami Beach too, there are more huge mofo's here than anywhere I know (maybe So Cal, or NY/NJ).

i'm in the same boat with alot of these other guys like jc....this guy's taken a huge chance posting something like this up here..i think that says alot about his character and not to mention, esteem!!! excellent job, these flames that are being thrown at you are only motivation for the future, not that you would need it though. good job....

I aint going to lie

Do you!! Dont worry about other peoples lifts. Hell some people shoulder press 315 for 10, but I guarantee you they probaly started with 135 on the bar looking at the guy who did 225 for 5 like he was god.

Just keep up the hard work, soon enough you will be the dude in the gym everyone watches lift.

Trust me getting there is most of the fun.

personnally i think it's great you reached that point in your traning...but remember that you are a bodybuilder not a powerlifter,by that i mean a bodybuilder has to train under a schedule and if you get hurt doing 1rm then you're not in the gym where you're supposed to be..right!

My trainer won the canadian champs in the beginning of the 90's and he never uses more than 185 on the freebar.Get those reps in there and get the blood flowing.Point is it's not how much you lift but how big you're tree trunks are!!

Still, congrats on the achievement!
the fruit of your efforts is paying of.

Congrats, a new record is a new record ...

And only you get to decide if you are ready to juice, not some internet tough guy.

holy crap I thought my thread would be long gone by now but it is out of control! I ran out of karma to give at about page 2 lol but don't worry my grey stuff ain't worth spit anyway. So all I can do is say thanks again for the motivation.

By the way, I agree with some of you here that most people don't squat correctly. It is my feeling that you should go slowly down all the way until you just can't go any lower, pause at the bottom then exhale as you power yourself up. In the last few months at my gym, I have seen only a couple other people squatting and they went down maybe a foot at the most lol!

I know exactly what you mean! I remember I was visiting my local Y and I saw a guy at the squat rack racking up 315. I was like, yeah, a hevy squatter! So I watched him squat and it was literally 1/3 squats he was doing.

At another gym I was working out at just for one day I saw a guy squatting while I was DLing. Warms up with 135, ATF. Puts 225 on there, goes parallel. Puts 275 on there, slightly above parallel. Puts 315 on there, does like 1/2 squats. Even goes so far as to put like 335 on there and does 1/4 squats. I was like, WTF? He was probably exerting the exact same amount of effort on each set from 225 on, just with more weight and less range of motion.

Those two people are jackasses. You are already within the elite .001% of the general population and about 1% of regular gym goers. Keep it up.

JC

Good Job - Keep at it. Don't worry about all the criticism - some people have strong upper bodies and weak legs and vice versa. I have a friend that can squat 500lbs but cant get 225 flat bench for 10lb. Sounds like your making good progress.

Congrats bro!!!
Its a great felling when you can get another plate loaded on. I just love that feeling. I'm always pushing to throw that extra plate on each size. Again, congrats, keep up the good work.

i respect your opinion...but i dont mind taking a second to check out someones personal record.

Congrats Man!!! It always feels great to break on thru :D

And don't compare yourself to anyone else. Just keep movin that iron.

although you tried to flame me on the E post, I will give you karma for this, good post. Most people love to swagger and think of how much weight they put up. But their form sucks, when you swing the weights or do 1/4 squats it makes it a little easier for all the ILS types.

Great lift bro now get started on 4 plates. Always set goals it's great inspiration to reach and exceed them. besides anything over 4 plates and the bar gets a nice bend to it also great for the ego. :)

agreed...

Great job, man!!! don't listen to someone who is too ignorant to admit your victory... it's a nice milestone to be proud of...

Darko, I second that. I don't post much because I just don't want to get tangled in all of the little-bratty-girl talk these punks continue to do. Is there some qualification that says you have to be an immature, bragging asshole to be into weightlifting - it seems like this sport draws them. Hmm.. "insecure" rings a bell.

Kudos to this guy who hit his PR. If you are not competing in powerlifting, the important thing is hitting PR's, getting pumped, and growing muscle, not how strong you are compared to others.

It's one thing to joke and be silly - everyone can use a good laugh, but to be a hateful, rude, and self-righteous smartass is inexcusable.
This place needs a bit of maturity. I can't handle these brats.

God some of the people on this board are real characters.

Shit I can barely squat 315 for a few times, does that mean I should not be juicing? Yes, I work legs regularly but legs have never been my strong point. They are proportioned to my upper body, and thats all that matters to me.

Seems like a bunch of you were picked on in high school and now your dealing with it by ragging on some guy who is happy about himself.

Suky, even with genetics as shitty as yours (hence your name) your legs are still probably stronger than mine. :)

Keep up the good work.
