Finally got some flax seed oil

On the advice of forum goers, I ignored the capsules and searched around to find the oil itself-

I got a little bottle, 8 fl oz, for about $6. All black bottle that says "Organic Flax Oil, Cold Pressed, Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids".

I knew it was supposed to be kept cold, so I wondered if I should buy it off the store shelf which was at room temperature.

I looked for a date, since I've heard from here that it should be less than 45 days old, but I couldn't find one.

I haven't opened it yet, I'm suddenly a little worried ;)
What exactly am I gonna feel? Any unexpected side effects? Any results I'll be surprised to see after a few weeks of useing it?

Thanks-

Ack, PS!
My father is pretty BADLY out of shape. His wrists are permanently injured so he can't lift weights, and his heart is in terrible shape so cardiovasular is not a real option, for instance he almost needed a nitro just from going up a few stiars. (he can walk, that's about it. And he does so, with a large bookbag, every other day at college). He needs a machine to help him breathe at night- with luck, all this walking at college (just started august) will help him. Hes takeing alot of medicine- Is there any conflicts I should know about that might prevent him from also takeing flax oil?

My moms diabetic with high blood pressure, can she still take it as well?

Thanks again

no side effects

only good ones

your mom and dad can also take flax seed oil
it is just oil, not a supplement
they should take it instead of their regular dressing oil

i think its packed in a oprotective environment (i.e in nitrogen or something else non reactive) and the bottles are usually darkened, so i have read (admittedly on the side of the bottles) that if sealed and kept in a cool dark place it ok to leave flax like that unopened

once opened it should be kept refridgerated

udo erasmus (sp?) said that overly large doses of flax can block other omega fats absorbtion (i.e omega 6 etc) as flax is only high in omega 3 and nothing else. he then said this blocking can lead to symptoms of dry skin etc as the omega 6 oils arent present

he ALSO makes his own oil which is is a blend of other oils, so whether you want to take his advice with a pinch of salt is up to you :)

UDO's choice is supposed to be the perfect blend of oils

but if you already use some oil (like in dressing) you'd better use only omega 3s (from flax or fish oil)

(We don't need extra omega 6s)
