Final interview tomorrow...

75th

Meeting with one of the head honchos at a smaller investment firm. Going to hopefully be working more on the analytical side as opposed to dealing with clients (which I cant stand these days). It would be a big change going from one of the biggest firms out there to a place that specializes in a few areas...but they do it very well. I want this job.

Meanwhile, my wife will be in New York from tomorrow until Friday so I will have to hopefully celebrate solo.

And by celebrate, I mean let my parents know and play some Grand Theft Auto when I get home.

congrats.i feel you on the clients being sucky part. im guessing you make less as an analyst but at least you dont have to deal with the bs

where did you go to school btw?

Yeah, dealing with investment clients these days must be a drag. Especially all the ones who have lost 20%+ off their portfolios over the past year because their broker told them to "stay the course" when they should have circled the wagons.

Nah, my clients are doing alright. Im naturally a more conservative person...the only folks under my command who are down 10% or more are younger guys with the investments in their retirement accounts.

I would say most of my older folks swing between -5% and +5%.

Thank god for Munis.

Good luck!

i've been interviewing too- it's exhausting.

I had my final interview recently and heard that I did great and will get a job offer.

now i'm just waiting for it though and it's nerve wracking.

Indeed, and the thing with me is I dont interview a lot.

I focus on one opportunity and go after that. If I dont get it I stay put. I dont think its wise to settle for something you didnt want more than anything else in the first place.

But then again, Im crazy, so....

Good luck! I thought you were looking to move to Europe?

Marriage is all about compromise. :(

Best of luck. Private client is teh suck, so any move that brings you closer to research, institutional securities, or investment banking is a good move. Granted, they are all a grind, and I speak from experience.

And if your interviewer is gay, just start taking your clothes off, you should be fine. :p

The last time I tried that people threw garbage at me.

Good luck bro.

Personally, I don't mind dealing with client's whom are upset. I just tell them like it is and then ask what they want me to do.

I do understand why you are making the move however. Do you have a series 7 or 24?

Nah as I mentioned before, I don't have issues with dealing with clients right now. I just never liked it really. My clients are actually really happy considering all that's going on...they compare their performance with the market or their peers.

I have my 7, 66, 24, and 4.

You've got to love studying for all of those exams. :worried:

if that is you in ur current avi; i suspect u would get hotel room keys and underwear tossed at you.

When did you guys get your Series 7? Who's got the high score? Probably not me, I think I got a 73 or 76. Thank God I passed the 1st time

You want hard tests?? Hit up the CFA exams. I'd take the 7 every day for a year not to deal with the CFA. They make you relive your MBA, but without the drinking. It's awful. :worried:

Ya I wouldnt even think of taking my CFA.

Thats probably why I suck.
