when converting i've heard two different methods... one says you don't have to heat to dissolve....one says you must heat to sterilze..... with a non-heating process do you have to strelize??

You are talking about two different steps in the procedure. You may or may not want to heat the solution to dissolve the pellets. I always do. Otherwise you either need to crush them, or wait an eternity.

After you are done running it through the sterile filter, you have the option, but not the obligation to heat the solution at 250F. You can if'n you wanna. And I always wanna. But the solution should be sterile from the filter. Heating also has a neat effect that makes it less painful since it burns off some alcohol.

I never heated mine after I ran it through the filter, I should try it if it lessens the pain a little,

u know cause I'm a puss and all:bawling:

"sterile filter" does not mean it sterilizes the solution. It means the filter is sterile. All it does is takes out floating particulates and makes the stuff look oh so beautiful. The benzyl alcohol does sterilize the solution (before adding the oil). I always heat just to be safe, Who the hell knows if the oil really is sterile or not. For all I know some dude is getting it at the grocery store.

Actually nickl73, they are called sterile filters because they are designed to remove contaminents over a certain size. The filter that usually ships will catch anything over .45micorns, so actually they DO sterilize the product in the sense that it removes harmfull bacteria. The BA does not necessarily kill the contaminents, if any and the post conversion baking is just a little precautionary step to make sure that anything which may have slipped through is killed.

250 degrees for 15 minutes. I did mine 3 times. From what I understand, 1 is enough.

VG..... 12 to 15 hours? Good God.... when I boiled mine, the pellets were dissolved in 50 minutes.

I prefer the heat, as I am one impatient sonofabitch.
