Fighting

Anybody here take any Martial Arts or fighting classes? I used to take BJJ and Chinese Boxing but will be taking Krava Mag in NYC. It's insane, normally tought to special forces. I like the art of fighting, not violence but I like sparing, real fights are usually avoided at all costs.

i took taekwondo when i was younger, got a black belt, complete waist of time. Boxed for a little in HS but stopped when they wanted me to get serious an stop lifting. My trainer told me to just run and do pushups, fuck that. As far as real fights, i've been in quite a few when i was younger, but all that stoped when some nigga whipped out a gun, then i realized its just not worth it and much better to walk away. Nowadays if i ever get into a fight it'll be only to defend myself or help a friend out.

Let me know how those Krav Maga classes are, i was thinking doing that, bjj or thai boxing once i get out of school. My goal is to have at least one or two NHB fights in the next 5 years, but i'm not sure if my shitty joints will let me get away with that.

taekwondo looks bood but tends to be to linear an art... We used to open our dojo up to tiger shulmans all the time, what a joke... Even there higher belts where horrid fighters....

exactly why i think it was a waste of time, it was kinda of like playing tag with your hands and feet against the other person.

BJJ was really cool to take, I lost my flexibility though because of lifting and can barely touch my back now. Krava Mag is more stand up submissive and basically made for the street. Not that I will use it but it's good to know that I can.

I took go-ju kai karate for about 6 years. Against an average opponent on the street I could fucking kill the guy in under a minute on average. Striking martial arts are not very good against judo or ground fighting or juijitsu though. I was thinking of taking judo or juijitsu those two look like alot of fun.

I have taken bjj, thai boxing, and am currently taking sambo. I also wrestled in highschool and university.

If you want to do NHB style fights then you need to be proficient in both stand-up and ground fighting.

If you're looking at a purely self-defence point of view, then I would consider plain boxing and a little bit of wrestling... as well as lots of sprinting after the fight is over.

boxing/wrestling or karate/judo are both excellent combinations. Sprinting is always good.:D

i take kav maga classes, it is very intense. and it is excellent cardio. it is actually tough on the muscle too. it almost made me stop lifting. but that could never happen.

I have a good friend who runs a kickboxing school he has open sparring nights on wensday and thursday in thia boxing, kickboxing, and jujitsiu. I studied judo for 5 years, and I am now trying to get into jujitsui, and thia maybe UFC one day. But the open sparring nights are a good start. Most of the time it is full blast, but there are always exceptions.

yellowbottle, is that somewhere by freehold mall? i think my friend was telling me about the same place the other day
