fighting a traffic ticket, expired validation sticker

ok , so how do i proceed, I am definately fighting this, I only got my car back in the next 1.5 weeks, I had no idea it was expired, and this cop was predatory, he stopped, followed me, and advanced on me with his lights,

i dont want my insurance premium to raise, I am in ontario, does anyone want to weigh in? please help.

options for argument, and any tips on how to get it WHIPED. i already had a light ticket or speeding 20km over, It was due to depression, etc.. (i wont go into it) but the fact is, i didnt fight it but i dont really see this as a big deal nor do i see it as unjustified.. i was speeding, but this... i found this charge.. fucked.

it was not malascious crime
there was no one hurt
i didnt speed or endanger anyone
i was compliant, i stopped and was polite,
i have no criminal record
i have no real driving record issues (until this year)
this in society, seems like a money grab... ther was no pain stopped by this, or real harm brought by this violation? why must i now pay for 3 years in thousands of dollars in insurance premiums for such a violation... this will only drive my greed and probably harm society more.

I dunno about canada, or other areas of the US, but usually things like that around here if you show up and have proof that you got it renewed they will dismiss the charge.

plus it used to not be a moving violation and therefore did not impact your insurance. Has that changed??

yep, otherwise pay the fine, you were wrong.. predatory or not..

otherwise pay an attorney, either way you pay..

I'm not sure....that might be a state by state thing. I've never gotten an expired registration/inspection/whatever that didn't get dismissed so I never had to think about it.

If it's just an expired tag ticket, I'm not sure how Canada works, but in most all US states, that's a non-points ticket or a fix-it ticket. Meaning it won't affect your driving record or insurance. But they can and will impound the car if they feel like it, and that adds as much as $1000 to the cost of getting it handled.

The only way you can fight it, is if there is a provision in the law allowing a number of days to get the tag renewed if the car has been out of you control or possession for some reason, but I don't know of any such laws here or elsewhere.

We've all been in similar situations at some point...

Put the car in moms name....insure under her name and if anything happens your covered just deny regularly driving it

That is illegal though lol

it doesn't matter if you know it is expired or not.. it's expired. you lose.

if you can't afford a raise in your insurance you shouldn't be driving with expired tags. i just paid to register my car and i did it 2 days before it expired. you know why? cause i made time for something i knew i had to pay for, rather than letting it lapse and making excuses. it's not like you were a day overdue..you were pushing the limit and got caught. man up.

but would there be benefit to manning up in court? saying i admit im guilty, i will pay a fine but id like for it to be considered to be reduced or what have you... is it even worth it?

Did you ignore what we all posted? lol. Get your tags updated, see if they will dismiss it.
