Fighters Reply Needed

I have not been on site for awhile, but I have noticed there are quite a few fighters on site right now. I am having some problems pulling weight off for a fight in mid November and I could use some tips. I wondered first how much weight I can piss out from a legal diruretic such as dandelion root??

Secondly, I am on doctor prescribed testosterone shots at 200mgs every 10 days, so I wondered if I would change to a more "anabolic" AS if I would not dump some water weight (it always seems as if I gain 2-3 pounds after I take a shot).

I have quite a bit more muscle mass than I ever had before, so this is why I am having problems with the diet. I now weigh about 227, and need to get to around 215-218 by mid-November.

Thanks.

what type of fight are you preping for?
What is your diet routine now?
How long do you train per day?
What is your age?

I hate trying to cut too much weight too fast. Water or not, it can kill athletic performance.

I'm not up on diruretics so I can't help there. You could try some liquidex and/or proviron to cut out some of the water associated with your test shots. How about legal stacks such as e/c/a (wich is largely going to be diuretic in action in this time frame)?

Losing 10 pounds in a month, though not ideal under any circumstances in my opinion, has been done sucessfully without the help of any drugs for ages. Fix your diet ant hit the road running.

Thanks for the replies. To answer the questions:

*It is a Muay Thai fight 3 rnds x 3 min
*I train at least 6 days a week alternating between sports specific training and just general running/plyometric
*I am 30 years old
*My diet is decent, but I have been told it is a little carb heavy

Here is a general day for me:

Meal One----yogurt, banana, maybe oatmel
Meal Two---Chicken breast, applesauce, fruit cup
Meal Three----fruit cup, yogurt
Meal Four---(dinner) do not watch as close on this meal, but I do not go overboard

**I have two cheat days where I might binge with 1-2 meals for the day.

I obviously do alot of cardio, so I am unclear why I am not losing weight???

"I obviously do alot of cardio, so I am unclear why I am not losing weight???" Diet my man. High protien, moderate carbs. And you're right, the test is making you retain water. I'd suggest Arimidex/Liquidex to put that to a stop. Very few doctors are hip to that sort of thing.

Bro, get a scale and weight yourself first thing in the morning after you've taken a piss. That will give you a reasonable idea of how much water you can get off. Your weight goes up quickly throught the day as you drink.

You're looking at loosing around 10-15 pds in a month. I think you should be able to do it pretty easily. It depends on how much BF you have right now. If you think you're in pretty good shape, i would'nt recommend losing to much weight. Otherwise, the other guy is fighting strong and you're fighting weak.

I also do Muay Thai and i went from 191 to 174 in 6 weeks for a fight and got my ass kicked. I fought the same guy again 4 months later at 185 and killed him. I recommend cutting carbs and eating less over all but not to a point where you feel really weak and thats the mistake i made. Good luck and keep us posted.

Sofageorge, you couldn't be any more correct----I weighed myself this morning, and weighed in at around 219, so I must be putting on hella water to get to 227......as you guys advised, I am dropping my carbs, as this is why I think I may be holding water. I also got some of that R-ALA and yohimburn to help.

F, yeah I know there is a defininte limit to how much I have to cut before hurting myself. I was scared as hell to move up to heavy (I used to be a middleweight in ama boxing), but your correct, I can only stand to get down to the heavy cutoff at 215---any lower and I feel like shit.

Are you ama, or pro??? It's a wild sport, and I love those leg kicks (giving not getting!!).

Thanks to all.

It doesn't seem as though you are trying to get into a lower wieght class, so what your concern? I would focus on stamina/endurance and technique. I could see if you had to drop 15 to get in the wieght class you need to be in, but thats not the case. You are currently 227 and you want to get down to 215 - correctly me if I am wrong but both wieghts are in the same wieght class(heavy wieght).

Anyways - break a leg - your opponents of course.

JKD, yes the cut-off between super-heavy and heavy is 215. Anything above 215 is TOTALLY open, meaning I could be looking at another Bob Sapp......NO thanks on that one.

There are actually fighters lobbying right now (due to the whole Bob Sapp thing), to change the weight classes further to cater to these larger-than-usual fighters. I think 216+ leaves ALOT of room for weight differences.

Boxer - I understand now - yah - 216 and up can lead to some huge wieght differences. Anyways, somebody already mentioned some anti-e's to take away some of the extra - water wieght. Try eating the bulk of your calories and water early. Then just have some good lean protein and a vegtable for dinner. Watch your wieght closely over the next couple of weeks to make sure your on track. The last fight I was in (last november) I fought at 172 - I am now about 205 - I hate cutting wieght.

JKD, I presume you fight some type of MMA??? I train with a couple pro NHB guys, one of which is about your "fighting" weight.

That Bob Sapp guy is a freakin monster, good lord!

Yeah that guy is a monster no doutb! Did you catch the Shockwave Pride ppv where he almost won the championship if it wasn't for the champion getting him to submit.

i have a fight in November as well, i am gonna weigh in at 200lbs we may end up being on the opposite sides of each other if your weight drops a bit! I can see the sticky now Liquidmuscle defeats Boxer1 in the first round by KO! :D

Shot ya a PM Liquidmuscle.....about the Pride, I was a little worried when Sapp did a pile driver on Minatauro---that coulda' been nasty.

As for Cheque Drops and Halo, I have done them both and they are more detrimental to me than good-----it makes me TOO aggressive and I get hit, kicked, and kneed too much---and I don't like that cuz it hurts LOL.

How is your guys food intake the preceeding days of the fight??
