FBI, CIA, U.S. Marshalls, ATF, etc.

Don't go marines unless you want to walk away with no applicable skills in the real world. I'd suggest national guard, while in school and then taking the POST exam.

Going in with POST will look good and the guard time will help a lot too.

Thats interesting...I have never had anyone suggest that before...of course those who I have talked to all served in the army, marines, etc themselves. Food for thought I guess.

So fellas, if you wanted to get a job in the FBI, which of these majors would you go for in college: Molecular Biology, Accounting, or Criminal Justice? Thanks once again...

Marines have no traditional MOS. In the Army you can come away with real world job skills. In the marines you come away being able to act as a sandbag for the Army :)

Seriously though, marines won't give you any edge re: FBI. If anything, you'll appear to be just another "high speed, low drag" grunt looking to wax a couple cultists.

Going national guard will grant you an MOS that could be applied to your FBI work *and* it gives you other options should the FBI not work out for you.

Passing POST training gives you an edge for field agent status (yes the FBI has their own training, but POST gives you quite an edge on other candidates because of it's similarity and you've proven you can pass the bulk of FBI training).

i believe any 4 year degree can get you in

minor in foreign lang would prob be a HUGE plus

grades have to be kept pretty high

Foriegn language must be either native or "near native" spoken. But a minor in one will get you into the field sooner than not having one.

For the CIA grades are EXTREMELY important if you're coming in right out of college. It's the only thing you have done recently and they're the sole metrics used for judging your college work.

FBI will take any degree as will the CIA. Although the CIA doesn't require a degree for all jobs.

Right now I'm deciding between Accounting and Molecular Biology. I also speak fluent Polish since I came to U.S. when I was little and received U.S. citizenship a few years ago. My high school grades are pretty good also(3.7GPA) and I'll make sure to keep my grades high in college.

4 year degree

fbi will take a 4 yr degree in anything, so will the cia, they have many places you can work. foreign languages are good, experience in law enforcement is a plus,,,,,,

what are you lookin to do?

Good thread guys.

I also want to venture the same route as the almighty and big mike.

1. Major-Criminal Justice

2. Minor-Political Science(or should I change)

3. I speak greek fluently.

I want to be a special agent for the FBI.

Im looking into the national guard also.

What is POST?

PLease advise.

Questions about the national Guard:

1. How much do I get paid a month?

2. Will the guard interfere with my schooling?

3. WIll I be shipped off?

4. If a war occured, what are the chnaces of me seeing battle?

5. Is it a good idea?
