Fav Christmas Traditions...Got any?

I figure my son is now old enough to actually start enjoying Christmas and understanding what happens with the Santa thing and all that.

So I am trying to start off some traditions (outside the holiday basics), but the majority of the ones that I am familiar with are more for large family gatherings and it is just us. My Dad and I had some but my son isn't old enough to drink, (he won't be 12 for 9.5 years).

The way I see it, I can swipe some of your family memories and make them my own.

Well, I see know one has helped you out but some of the little things I do is that we always take the kids to the best neighborhoods to look at xmas lights, the youngest one is always lifted to put the final touch on the tree. I also involve the kids in my xmas backing....if you don't back you can always get those xmas cookies and you seperate and put in oven and when they are done you put icing on them. We also make ornaments together. I go to local craft store...walmart may even have these but they end up looking like stain glass...they are metal xmas shapes and you put your crystals in them and bake them till done. The kids and my favorite is collecting pine cones and coating them real good with peanut butter and then roll them in bird seeds-tie and ribbon around them and hang on trees outside for the birds.

oh when the cookies are made for Santa...let them help and let them set them out with milk. I just try to get them to participate in everything where possible.
