The chapter here in Dallas is a fucking joke. I ought to sue them for drawing up my paperwork wrong. I keep having to go back and do it over because they keep fucking up. Should have just hired a lawyer and spent the money, the woman will probably have to reimburse me anyway.

My recommendation: Do not use them. They suck and give bad advice which could hurt your case. Even the court clerks had stories to tell about them. I have pretty much slam dunk case so Im lucky. Otherwise they could have fucked me up bad.

I wont be around for the remainder of the week but I am curious about something. If the child wants to live with you then why the need for all the drama and paperwork? Childsupport support guidelines are clear and nothing more than simple mathematical calculations. You live close enough to each other where relocation/distance shouldnt be an issue if that is a concern your ex has. (You dont have to answer me here if you dont want to.) Not interested in opening a can of nasty worms. I just honestly dont understand why the need for such a largely useless energy expenditure.

You have shared physical custody since you split and your ex is re-married so there should be no more alimoney involved. Unless there is a great disparity in income between you and your ex, the amount of child-support money shouldnt be so great as to warrant all the rigamarole.

I know the laws differ from state to state so maybe I am way offbase here.

Just thinking about the question does the amount of money that you will glean justify all of the energy you are putting into this, especially if the child is with you anyway?

Yep. You think I enjoy this shit. It's still a fucking nightmare. I never paid her alimony, don't know where you came up with that. I'm nearly 800 in the hole every month. So yes, the 700 or so a month she will have to pay is sorely needed or i will run out of money and credit in less than a year. Does that answer your question?

Oh and just because the child wants to live with one parent doesn't make it automatic. You still have to get it approved by the court and the other parent can contest, but usually to no avail. This is just a matter of time and it ain't no fun.

Yep. The bleeding has to stop soon and it will. I have only so much credit. I live cheaply. Never bye myself new clothes, my car is paid for. My house payment is relatively low, I stay away from money hungry women (LOL). Once I get the promotion I have coming, plus the child support, we'll be okay.

I assumed that you did. If you did not then more money for you to begin with.

Are you sure that she will owe you $700 p/month? Or is that something "THEY" told you? ("They" are very good at spewing bullshit. )

$700.00 p/month for ONE child in your state? Damn, I was getting $143.00 for FOUR in the northeast... that number will be reduced to about $60.00 PER MONTH (if we are lucky), still waiting on a judge's decision.

I feel you on how hard it to raise a child without proper support from the other parent. Sorry it has to be that way for you and your child and every other parent going through this out there.

My gf's ex (they divorced amicably) all of the sudden decided he is too depressed to work and will accordingly "adjust" the childsupport he pays her. They have a son that attends private school, will be driving soon and will be attending college after next year.

Fucked up when any parent - male/female shirks their responsibility to their child. That parent is only hurting their child.

you're kidding right?

I denied what I could have got from my X cause it was an insane amt. No way you are getting that for four kids.

Damn I could live off of $700 a month.

Ya'll some high spenders.

Driving is luxury, not a need and you can work a lot while in college, against lower tax rates.

This is their only child. All of the sudden this guy decides he is "too depressed to work" because he gained an inheritance and is now living off his girlfriend.

It's all good with my gf. She will just do whatever she has to do to make it right (like she has since her son was born).

The "depression" excuse didn't go over too well with the 16 y/o son though. I wonder why?

I know you weren't questioning me per say and yes I agree - it is unbelievable but it is our reality nonetheless.

It's all good though. Character building experience for us all, I suppose. :)
