Fat Kids....

You know that she does not call her that to her face? She has those thoughts in her heart if it's mentioned! Negative thoughts only provide negative actions...IMO.

Sorry, anyone who calls a child a "beast" has serious problems. It's NOT the poor kids fault that she has NO examples set for proper nutrition. Christ.

I'll tell you what I do know; Children don't possess magical mind reading skills and DPS didn't call the child a beast to her face. It's clearly stated in black and white in her first post.

As a digression, I had many "negative thoughts" about newcomers to the gym I worked at whom I knew were wasting my time, though every client was always treated as an individual with a fresh slate and every positive effort provided to them despite knowing they'd quit in a week or two's time. It's called professionalism - just like DPS employs tact and keeping her bloody mouth shut (aka common sense not to get involved in a shitstorm) instead of running around calling kids beasts as you're suggesting.

Never suggest to anyone how to rear their children - especially a mother - unless they broach the subject / invite you to submit an opinion. Your intentions will always be misconstrued and you'll just generate unnecessary bad feeling.

Just keep your own kids in good order (like you're doing by instilling in them a sense of pride in their appearance / self-esteem / self-respect) and let others - even your blood - worry about their kids.

Thats true as hell. Offering that up to the moms will make her think you just told her she was an unfit parent= cat fight. Maybe have your neice hangout with you and your girl more, ask if she would like to go the gym, or join a softball team or something. Anything to get her moving. and that alone, if she enjoys it, will prolly make her want to be more healthy herself.

ok let me explain.... around here in these parts our lingo is a little different. When we say beast we dont mean grotesque and ugly we mean HUGE. Like if we see someone that is hot were like man Thats Sick. so when i called her a beast I wasn't meaning like she's a freak just really big. Here is a pic of the both of them...mind you they are THREE days apart.

Ok this is my sister with my two nieces...obviously you can tell my sister does not practice good eating habits.

Fuck after seeing that pic of her with her kids , I would call her a beast to.
I mean look at the mom she is huge .All I can do is shake my head thinking of how the kids will turn out. Yes your niece is a beast .
I bet she just feeds them way to much and the same ol crap she eats

Can't really judge from one pic -

I know plenty of young and old (including family) Southern Italian pisan (sp.) women with a similar "robust" physique and they are quite healthy and fit (lots of walking up in the hills / mountains). Mediterranean diet (some of the dishes are high calorie in nature), just big portions :)

yea i agree. might need to find a more suttle way to go about it. but i do think it should atleast be brought to the parents attention. going throu life and school overweight is one of the worst things that kids have to deal with. I was overweight til my sopf. year in college. I delt with it by hating myself and everyone else, and kicking anyones ass who called me fat. since then I have lost 80lbs, and I feel like Im living another life!
oh,. so you're projecitng.

free advise: mind your own business.

True Story: My former sister in law was compulsive about her own weight (to the point that she had osteoporosis before age 45 from the constant dieting), and was very vigilant about her daughters weight and what she ate. In my opinion, she nagged the kid and turned food into an issue. Consequently, the kid went on her first diet around age 3. She wasn't fat, just carrying a little baby chub but you couldn't tell her mother that (she would have outgrown it). But her mother was there, always bitching at her about every bite, virtually, that went into her mouth. Consequently the kid started hiding food in her room so mom never saw her eating other than at the meal table. She couldn't wait to move out of the house, and then the weight piled on.

And she was ALWAYS a very athletic girl. She actually held a director position for the local YMCA shortly after graduating high school. It was just that her mother made her crazy about the food thing.

Anyway, when her grandfather passed away she came into a substantial inheritance. The first major purchase she made was gastric bypass, she was less than 24 years old and tipping the scales over 300 (she's a VERY tall young woman, over 6', and very strong and athletic, but was also carrying substantial extra weight because her mother turned food into an issue).
