Lotto - Theres no way... Even with scratch-off tickets, which offer a much higher winning rate than pick 3, powerball, etc, you'd probably make back 75% of your money AT BEST.
If you were really a good entrepreneur, you wouldnt be asking this question, you'd be out there making shit happen.
If you want to make a wiser investment, you could help me get a business off the ground and I'd repay you.

Making money is cummulative. Get a better job... then get a night and weekend job. Working 16 hour days is a blast.
Always try to be the MVP... best employee on the job... even if it is a total shit job.
Take the money you make and invest it. Keep reinvesting your profits.
You'll be amazed at how easy it is to reach $50,000.

naturally anabolic said:yes they do, but the reason individually owned businesses *especially small biz* fail is because they try to become a bloated fish in the market, or they are only in it to make money, not because they like or love what they are doing.... when they see they can make money at doing something they grow too quick and stretch cash out too far and it comes back around to bite them on the ass. If your smart and u stick to staying small and making enough to pay the bills u can slowly work your way up to making a good solid sum of money by working for yourself.

supernav said:reasons most small businesses fail is very simple. two things:
1) they get into lower risk brick and mortar companies, but it also is high-risk in that you know have a BIG bank loan to pay off. And although they last longer than home based businesses, within a few years, they have a high risk due to that loan and finally realizing revenue is not greater than expenses+profits needed.
2) Most home based people fall for various non-proven scams/home franchises. People read "Do home cleaning at your home, make $100,000 with our kit". So they fork over $10g's for it (that's how these companies make money) then realize: "Oh shit! Where do i get customers?" "Oh shit, i'm not even in the yellow pages!" "Oh shit, the other guys charge so low cuz they have thousands of customers and employes, yet i have no one", "Oh shit, at this rate, i'll never have enough to pay my mortgage, bills, etc. like i could with my f/t job"
Just remember when you read those magazines about home-based businesses : IF they are so lucrative and can make soo much money....WHY don't they just hire people they know and do it themselves? Ask to see the ACCOUNTING FIGURES of their OWN sales using their product. Chances are they probably aren't even in business with their own product. Just "selling" the idea to others.
