Fashion question

HeatherRae said:
Oh boy! something I really know about!!!

Okay, I'm a lawyer, and I have actually researched this very issue about what is the best thing for men to wear for court appearances. Whether it is a judge or a jury makes a little bit of difference, but not much.

Before a trial, I always told male clients to wear a black or gray suit, a blue or white shirt and a blue tie. Blue has proven to be the best color by far in front of juries, and people get paid big bucks as jury consultants to figure this stuff out, believe it or not. The tie needs to be conservative. NO JEWELRY other than a wedding ring if you are married and a watch. If it is a rolex, leave it at home! Think conservative, like what a judge or lawyer would wear. Don't wear french cuff shirts that require cuff links. Wear black shoes and socks that are clean and polished.

HTH!

Awsome post Heather, thank you. I knew there had to have been studies on this somewhere....Blue it is!

Alright, these are the blue ties I have to choose from, which one would work best?

for a court appearance - last one on the right. or first one on the left.

for going out - get yourself some new solid colors. understated is always the best way to go.

Yea bro, I need more solid colors in my repitroir'.

I do like those choices, was contemplating the one second from left??

It's probably the most "conservative" one their. I think the one on the far right is pretty conservative but is still a little fashionable.

Heather gave good solid advice. You want to look professional... think political candidates you see on TV. Black or charcoal suit, white shirt, and a red or blue tie.

I'd go with either the first tie or the last one (far left or far right). Second from left is an ok one if you're older (40+), but it looks like it's been in the closet quite awhile.

I'm a student doctor, and I agree that a sharp professional image is very important. Surveys of patients etc of what they think a doctor "should" look like are almost unanimous: (lab coat obviously), white or shirt, solid color or conservative patterned tie. I also wear nonprescription glasses in clinic most of the time to add to the image.

The wild patterns, shiny fabrics, fake alligator shoes, pastel girl colors, etc are for the club, a party, or whatever you do on your days OFF work. They just make you look like a clown if you wear that stuff to work or other professional duties...
