I dieted for the past 10wks or so to go from 11% bf to about 7%. I succeeded in getting down to 9% within the first month, but the results quickly came to a halt. So, like most other paranoid dieters, bumped up my cardio and dropped down the calories, which definitely caused some catabolism. I became somewhat saner after a couple weeks of this and resumed my initial diet. Still, the results just didn't come. So I've decided on doing an 8-week hypertrophy period to get my metabolism back in gear and gain a little bit of muscle back before giving the diet a go again.
Should I be eating just slightly higher than maintenance calories during this period or typical mass gaining levels? I'm worried that I will set myself back a few weeks of dieting. I'm trying to go for a more Brad Pitt-type look. I'm not gay, it just seems that the girls i date tend to like that look best (unless i'm dating fag hags who are trying to get me to change teams).
Also, how much cardio should I do?
