EZ Pass sent me to collections for toll

Have EZ pass located in NJ. Sometimes I get call center, or it doesn't work, but it is automatically linked to my credit card. I get letters in the mail for like a 25 dollar fine plus toll of 6 dollars. So I put a $.37 stamp on the envelope fill out the dispute form and put my ezpass info on. Then a second letter comes in I do the same, then a third and final letter and I do the same. Then a few weeks go by and I get a collection department letter for the toll. I called the collections company and told them I was confused b/c I had ezpass and they defensive and hung up the phone on me. I called them back and they were not very helpful. It looks like I will have to pay this or it will effect my credit score. I am going today and cancelling ezpass. I have spent more money on stamps in the last two years than I do tolls....

That sucks dude.. maybe its a scam of some sort.....don't give in fight it. Call EZPass not the collections co. and see what's up

Have the Smartag down here in the DC area.. Sometimes the toll sensor doesn't pick up the little thing you put on the windshield. So i have to call up the Toll people. They write my license, vehicle, make, what toll it was and delete the violation.

Tolls and ezpass/smartag are 2 sep entities. have to contact the toll people

hah.

gtr--I always blast thru that 50 cent one at 70 mph. I have never had a problem. On the 25 cent ones either.

DO you ever take the greenway or just the toll road? I've been on the greenway once, to go to 'skins training camp. No probs there.

It probably already has effected your score even if you now pay it because it made it to collections.

Are you serious?

A few years back I had some surgery. I paid the amount off IN FULL one week after my surgery.

Well a month or so goes by and I get several calls from collectors on my answering machine. I go to the hospital and guess what, there's the check in my file. The dumbasses never cashed it.

I don't know if it affected my score or not because I've paid cash for everything since.

bro...i work on the billing and collections department of a company. After we give the customer some calls the information is sent to the collections agency. After that, there is nothing we can do to resolve the problem. The customer has to contact the collections agency to pay, or if there is any chance of proof, send it by fax or whatever is possible.

So in your case you have to contact only the collections agency, speak loud and clear, because they will not be so friendly, and ask them how you can prove that you are not guilty. Ask them what information you cand send them like a proof with the date when you purchased your EZpass, the statements of your bank that shows the debits from EZpass to reload the shit, etc..whatever that can use to prove that you were paying your toll. Ask the name and the agent code of any person you talk and write it down. And be very quick. After some days, if you not contact them, your credit is affected, and depending of the amount, the case could be sent to a judicial court. In your case, it is just some buck so don't worry about a court. But be quickly cause maybe your still in time.

Mack if you got the EZPass from the NJ office that might be the problem. I've heard nothing positive about it. I got mine from NY and whenever I had an issue it was taken care of without a fuss.

We have an EZPass on each of our cars and we never have problems with any of them here in NY. Whenver we have problems, we call and theyre always very helpful and prompt with statements and such..
