EZ Curl Bars

How would the attack on the bicep be different using the EZ curl bar for curls if I were using the close grip instead of the wide grip? Thanks in advance.

I have been told that the inner grip emphasizes the outer [lateral ] head and the outer grip emphasizes the inner [medial] head of the bicep.

But i dont know if this is founded in biomechanics. Lots of people say that a muscle contracts or it doesn't, there is not such thing as emphasizing certain parts. But then again, the National Strength and Conditioning text book states that you have to work a muscle in multiple joint angles to get full fiber recruitment.

I usually use the inner grip and I just wanted to know if I was missing out on some whole new world. Anyone else have any comments?

The outer grips are more comfortable for me as opposed to a narrow grip. I would expect youwould hit the muscle differently though...outer grip lets your elbows and shoulders flare a little where the close grip would lock your elbows and shoulders in front of you.

Regardless, I don't think it's a big deal, honestly. Assuming you can hit multiple heads of the bicep with variations of grip, you'd probably be best off switching up your grip every workout. Either that, or just stick with one. Minor details don't play a huge part.

I agree with this. Also, i find that the inner grip reduces my range of motion. It is most beneficial to work a muscle through the full range of motion.

inner grip seems to be solely arms, but when i do the wide grip, which i like a lot, it seems like theres some shoulders thrown in there, at least for me, even when i use perfect form.

just switch the grip up , thats what i do

prefer the inner grip myself. The outer grip does allow for more "swinging" I think and shoulder usage. I like the inner grip much more. I feel it more in my bis and I'm stronger when using the inner grip by about 5-10lbs.

I find myself using the inner grip with preacher curls.
