Ok, I need something that simulates deadlift, but is not a rack deadlift. Any opinions?

You came to the wrong board for that. First you would have to explain to most on the chat board what a deadlift is....right after you show them where the gym is.

To answer your question the best replacement is reverse band deadlifts.

Ok, for people from training board who are here right now, how do i replace deadlifts.

Han I dont have bands, is there anything else I can do

Hannibal I bet I'm stronger than you on cable pulldowns

I wouldn't doubt that...when they start counting those on the platform I will start training them.

Deadlifts off a box or mats would be another variation.

Some good lifters don't go to that board at all because of attitudes like that. They'd rather shoot the shit and relax.

romanian deadlifts,
dimmel deadlifts,
standing lockouts (just deadlift from the knee...pretty much a romanian)
deadlift with chains.
pulls from/off blocks

there are so many variations

Attitude?!? You serious?

I'm sorry if the sarcasm wasn't thick enough for you. It was a joke....you said it best...relax.

endpiont cause i been doing them for past 4 weeks and im very overtrained in it. I want some basic exercise that i can do 3 reps with. Maybe goodmornings?

First you have to know why you were doing deadlifts to begin with. Strength, size...what?

Are you looking for exercises to make your deadlift stronger? Or are you looking for a different exercise to stimulate hypertrophy?

i know that broly. The first reason i started doing racks was to learn how to keep my ass down during the regular deadlift, and my hips back. Rack deadlifts were perfect on those, and I was progressing fine on them, doing triples, adding 10 lbs every week, until i by accident added 20 and not 10 lbs and barely made a single. SO ok ill do goodmornings, too bad they dont hit traps, so i guess i will do some powershrugs to compensate.

ass down...hips back...

ya lost me?!?

Seriously if you are looking to move the most weight...might want to check your form. Once again...it all comes back to your specific goals.

my legs were streghtening out too early on the deadlift, so i used rack deadlifts to learn good form

It's one of those things that I would have to see to be of any help. But if you are tryin to "squat" the weight up in a conventional stance I think you are limiting the amount of weight that you can pull. If you look at any of the great deadlifters and they look like they are almost pulling stiff-legged.

At the start of a conventional pull you want your hips as close to the bar as possible, and your ass should not be down. If it is then it forces your knees forward...and then you have to pull the bar AROUND your knees...which is not a straight line and is less efficient.

Like I said...depends on why you are deadlifting...
