i just started adding in Dex/Mal, ive been reading and everyone seems to come up to this equation...

50% whey 25% malt 25% Dex for cutting diets...

But what exactly do those numbers mean?
i am 180lbs 5' 11. Can anyone help me out? i dont wanna be taking in too much cuasing a crazy insulin spike and causing me to store the protein as fat, since i am cutting diet right now. Thanks guys.

Here's what I do:
Throw in 2 scoops protein (46g)
then 26gs maltodextrin and another 25 dextrose. The 50/25/25 are just ratios.
Go here for a good read:

It'll explain everything to you much better than I can

that is by far the best article I have come across on PWO nutrition: simple and yet informative. Make sure you read the referenced article at the beginning.

The formulas in my calculator for PWO are based on the formulas explained in that article.

k so if i read correctly

On a cutting phase I recommend consuming 2.5 grams of carbs per ten pounds of bodyweight. The goal here is to consume just enough to suppress cortisol and increase growth hormone levels and to get out of our catabolic state. During a time when you are restricting calories, the last thing you want is to be catabolic. I also recommend consuming an equal amount of protein as you did carbohydrates.

i weight 185. 2.5 per 10 pounds would be 46g of malto.

1/2 cup of malto = 47 g so thats basically 1 serving =]
and 2 scoops of whey = 46 g of protein so basically preety easy.

But in the article dextrose is not mentioned. Should i leave the dex out? I mean they both are from corn.....
just wondering....

yea split the 46gs between the two, malt and dextrose.

take a closer look, its there:

Phase one:

Immediately.

Mix (using the same 200 lb. male on a bulk example) 100 grams of a combination of 50% of your carbs coming from Dextrose and 50 % of your carbs coming from Maltodextrin with,

50 grams of hydrolyzed whey protein,

all mixed with 1 Liter of Water.

Shake all the ingredients well. (I personally like using a Tupperware cup for my shakes)

so, 46/2 = 23 grams each.

23 grams dex and 23malto

Im just wondering also, are they both sugars? its prob stupid q, but the dex nutrional value is 4g of pure sugar while malto says carbs. Thanks

haha! edited to make me look smarter! lol

hey guys, i was doing the calorie math to enter into Fitday, and i was looking and the PWOS with water was well over 400 cals. I mean, i cant fit that into the diet i have and keep the cals to about 2000. So what i did was cut the carb part in half. instead of 23g of dex and 23 malt, i used 12.5g of dex and 12.5 of malt = 25g total.

The eqaution for the PWOS
PWOS serving 333 4 31 44
333 cals, (4g of Fat)(31g of carbs)(44g of prot)

I just want to make sure that even tho the ingrediants arent maxed out they are still having a posstive effect rather then wasting my time/money. Thanks alot guys!

mine is 350 cals... easy: Eat less throughout the day. I am not sure if 25 grs of carbs are enough to supress Cortisol... sounds too low.

Hmm damn, im going to have to tweak diet again! all this tweeken is making my ass hungry as hell througout the day lol

Heres current diet after all tweeking.

Meal 1
Brown Rice/Egg Whites
EAS Whey Protein
Milk, nonfat, fluid, with added nonfat milk solids and vitamin A (fat free or skim)

Meal 2
Go Lean Crunch
Milk, nonfat, fluid, with added nonfat milk solids and vitamin A (fat free or skim)

Meal 3
Smuckers all Natural Penut Butter

Meal 4
Tuna In Oil(drained)
WHOLE BREAD

(Workouts)
PWOS

Meal 5
Tyson Chicken Breast

Meal 6
Tyson Chicken Breast

That comes out to
1996 cals Roughly, give or take some.

Im guessing, if i switch the Tuna in the Oil BACK TO THE WATER it will be alot LESS CALS considering the tuna in oil is 110 cal/serving wich equals 275 cals per can. Then on the 100% Light whole wheat bread wich is only 80 cals per serving, instead of this 90 cals a slice whole wheat. So basically I think i can up the Carbs in the PWOS.

Fucking tuna i picked up the wrong one at BJs and got stuck with 24 cans lol. Thank god there are only about 4 left.

Even tho the 25grams wont supress the Crotisol, is it still beneficial? i mean not 100% suppressed BUT more supressed then it would be as if i took in 0 grams. Im just wondering, my tuna is almost finally up and i got the light bread so i should be able to factor in the 23g malt and 23g dex
