Ever heard of topamax? Great little fat burner!

Before this thread goes ANY further, I strongly recommend you NOT use Topamax as anything except what it's made for; which is an ANTI-SEIZURE medication; It's also used at times to diminish possible psychosis and as a mood stabilizer. Unless a trained psychiatrist thinks you really needs this type of med, you're really gambling with your neurotransmitters. IMHO.

P.S. I'm licensed in two states and nationally certified as a mental health specialist, so I have a little bit of experience.

Topamax has also been effective in treating alcoholism. This is the first I have heard of the fat burning properties. I wonder what the rebound will be once one comes off . . .

Now that I really think about it, it has been suppressing my appetite, but if ONE thing is true about me, its that I'm great at staying at one particular weight for a long time... but we'll see what happens.

The drug fact sheet, however, does say that it causes you the inhibition of sweating, leading to hyperthermia (increased body temperatures).

My girlfriend takes it daily for migraine headaches. It doesn't burn fat...instead, it kills appetite. It's probably not the best idea to use this unless you really need to. Topamax often makes her forgetful and frustrated at not being able to express herself.

There could also be drug interactions, so dont just start popin' whats in your couch before you research what it could interact with.

About 3 years ago a doctor gave it to me for migraines - did nothing positive for the migraines - and was by far THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER put into my body and to add insult to injury the doctor that prescribed it did not ramp the dosage and started me at 400mg - a few days in I knew something was terribly wrong.

The pharmacy had no mention of ramping and it was only when I ask the pharmacist what was going on that long pause said a lot. Between the dosage and the conflict with my BC pills - I am still angry at the doctor that gave me a script knowing NOTHING about what she prescribed.

The long term side effects were extremely bad and only in the past year and a half I've regained the feeling in my fingertips and lost the pins and needles in my hands and feet.

I had severe brain fog, confusion for a long time that it effected my ability to work efficiently. I have never gotten over the memory loss - I had never forgot anything and never had to write anything down and since that first cycle I've had to write everything down.

The weighloss is a side effect of the drug because as other have said it causes appetite loss.

20% bodyfat, diet spot on, ran 5-6 times a week and lifted regularly yet stayed fat and put on no muscle.

Have you had your bloodwork checked for low testosterone? Hard to believe any doctor presented with that info wouldn't immediately suspect that. Get a second opinion, seriously.

I have had my thyroid levels checked, but not my test levels. Hmmm.

Well, for one... my dosage was ramped from 25 mg, as stated. Two, I'm taking only half the dosage that you're taking. And three... I'm a male, 23, and 260 lbs, with a tendancy to be chemically resistant. Side effects don't hit me near as much (that and I've just got a damned good liver, probably because I don't drink alchohol). Finally, I'm not taking any other medications with this.

Any questions?

Although, I do admit, the brain fog SUCKS ASS, and I feel like a FUCKING IDIOT some times.

Get your test levels checked now!! Theres about 8/9 real important ones.... 2/3 refferring to test specifically.... search around the site for acceptable hormone levels or something like that. I think a guy DrJMW posted it awhile ago.

Not to mention I could drink any Diet Coke, cause it tasted so strange.

As stated above, this ISN'T a fat burner, just an appetite supressor.

If you MUST - go get some Dexatrim.................

I prefer ECA
