I have a good friend who is currently in Junior College trying to make it to NCAA Division 1 football. At 18 years old, obviously he's too young to be taking steroids, but his argument for them is at least semi-compelling.
Basically, he says three things:
1) I might not ever make it out of Juco if I don't do something like this. That's why steroid use is so prevalent here.
2) If I don't use them now, I may never get the chance to because I will (hopefully) be NCAA-regulated. A lot of other kids used them in high school, so suddenly I'm at a disadvantage.
3) I'm not your typical 18 year old kid (He's sub-8% bodyfat at 6'1, 230 lbs. Linebacker who runs a sub-4.5 forty. In other words, not some puny kid looking for a shortcut)
Basically, what do I tell him?
