One show (not sure what channel it is going to be on - might be HBO) is about Vampires and how they come out of the closet and mix with normal humans because a synthetic blood has been invented and they do not need to feed on humans.

"Buffy" and "Angel" were trend setters....cultures throughout history have had a fascination with vampires. Hell, one of my favorite 80's horror flicks is "Fright Night."
