enlarged heart from test?

New member
does any one know of any cases where some one got an enlarged heart from just test cycles? a guy in the gym said its common? ive never hurd of it.

i've hear of enlarged hearts from excess usage over long periods of time. That guy from the steelers back in the 70's i think is a prime example. Anyway, your heart will become larger as you lift. It has to work harder to pump more blood to your body, and thats why a lot of lifters have an enlarged heart.

There isn't much wrong with an enlarged heart as long as you keep healthy. Dont' clog your arteries with junky food. When the heart becomes larger it pumps more blood and oxygen into the system. If you create blockages with junky food and cholesterol it can cause a buildup of pressure and a possible heart attack.

As long as all the right precautions are being taken. Nothing in life can be guaranteed, but you should be alright.

i understand. i live a healthy life style and am in good shape.and taking 500mgs a week of test-e. but like you said nothing is guaranteed!

Good luck with it. If it makes you feel better, there are probably a thousand guys that hit this board up daily and none have yet to post about an enlarged heart. I'm glad you are concerned about your health and not just hitting up the juice without knowing much about it.

No. He's talking about an enlarged ventrical. This happens from weight lifting (usually powerlifters) and there is no solid evidence that AS contributes to it since it doesn't happen to people who use steriods and don't do heavy weight training. It's rare and does not usually affect your overall heart health.

now that you mention it the guy is a power lifter who told me about the enlarged heart thing.so maybe he has seen this amongst other power lifters and thinks it common?

i am what i am said:

that guy from the steelers had nothing to do with AS, even his doctor acknowledge he had no reason to believe it came from juice

enlaged heart is not caused from steroids. its caused from excesive exercise... like cardio.

I think it's important to distinguish: 1) AAS cause heart disease; from 2) AAS will worsen those people who are predisposed to heart disease. #1 is probably not true, whereas #2 is very true, usually due to altered lipid profiles and worsening of athersclerosis which predisposes to heart attacks. Add in AI's which prevent protective estrogen formation, and over years, someone in the #2 category (E.g. Mike Matarazzo) may develop heart problems prematurely.

Both are muscle, but of different type, cardiac/skeletal. Im unsure if cardiac reacts the same way as skeletal but i doubt it seriously......its a different make up, (satelite cells, AR, ect). The GI tract, gall bladder and several other organs are composed of smooth MUSCLE as well, they dont grow on juice.......

Ive always wondered where the evidence of ventricle enlargement was concerning AAS use?

Skeletal and cardiac muscle are different .... cardiac muscle does not hytrophy the same as skeletal muscle does nor does it react to lactic acid like skeletal muscle does .

Doing cardio exercise increases the size or the left ventrical thus alloing the heart to pump a higher " volume " with each stroke ... this is a good thing !!

Normal person has a resting heart rate in the mid 80's where an elite athlete can be down into the mid to high 40's due to there advancement .. this is also a good thing !as there heart is barly working compared to someone in the 80's or higher .

Heart problem associated with steriods would be more along the lines of raised blood pressure and shitty lipid profiles or the " LONG " haul .
