English as official language petition

As pissed off as I was when I witnessed a fucking McDonalds commercial entirely in spanish (even the words on the screen), I searched to see if a petition has been made and it has.

I know these have little effect but maybe if there enough signatures, it could have some sort of impact. Please sign if you would like to at least attempt to thwart this horrendous infestation of people who fail to at least to try and integrate within society. If you are an American and are concerned by the way our language is being overrun but pussy ass liberals preventing such a simple thing as an offical language, try and post this in as many places as possible.

my grandparents imigrated form czechoslovakia and they LEARNED english. if i moved to a diff country id learn their language
 
nothing wrong with diversity bro.

Which means, you need to speak BOTH your mothertongue and the language of the country where you live. It has nothing to do with liberals or shit, it has to do with opportunities for the individual himself, since you will greatly limit your chances.

On the other hand, McD airing a commercial in spanish? well, you know, sales and marketshare are sales and marketshare, regardless of... so when a sizeable portion of their market speaks only chinese, they will air commercial in chinese, is that simple.
 
I've occasionally seen billboards in Urdu or Hindi. People started to object over here when there were calls for schools to offer classes using those languages in preference to English.

agree 100%. The sales and marketing doods at Mickie D's know that alot of their target market speak Spanish so they market toward them. Smart move, and I would do the same...

Besides, when I visited the US I was told by many many Americans that you do not have an official national language...is that true?

yes that is the reason for the petition. There is no official language. Is there any other country that doesn't have an official language?

To be honest I don't know..

I was just surprised that the US's main language was not listed anywhere..if thats the case, then the commercial isn't so out of line..

Most countries have an official language listed, but the US... nevertheless, to have English as Official language, will not change things, English is already used where it matters (education and business)
 
no petition in the world is going to stop america from becoming a majority hispanic. maybe not in your lifetime but in your childrens or grandchildrens, spanish and english will be the 'required' language. make sure they learn spanish, it will greatly benefit them.
 
Spanish is a beautiful latin language and like Spongebob and Pintoca said learn it because it will come in handy to be bilingual. :)

oh im all about diversity...the US is a melting pot the inscriptiong ont eh statue of liberty says it all: "Give me your tired, your poor,

BUT englishis our language and it should be learned.....not doing so segregates u from the population. which helps from predjudices which helps form racism which helps promote crime. I KNOW those will all be around with/without an official lang but the lack of learning the lang of ur country increases them all

I agree with you. We have the same problem with albanians in Macedonia. If they want to speak albanian, they have Albania to go to. They are in Macedonia and have to learn to speak and try to write in macedonian.

Same for USA. I came here knowing the language. My mom came here and studied it. She now knows how to talk and write some. We are in America after all, got to know the language of the country you live in.
