Hey guys (and gals), great forum you have going here. Been doing some browsing and plenty of ready for awhile now. Finally decided to register and join in.

From what i gather there is a some debate over what gear is best for the endurance athlete...almost like Chevy Ford debate.

Im a lightweight build with a running background converting over to cycling with minimal running anymore.
160 Pounds
6'0" Tall
2500+ calories taken in daily. Overall healthy diet.
20+ years as a competetive runner 800m to 10k.
Now training for mid distance cycle races 30-60 miles.
Train 5 days a week 3-4 on bike others in gym.

With everything available i will be honest i got over whelmed to a degree

Anyhow looking like EPO and Primo seem to be effective few compounds to gain some muscle mass, aid recovery and increase oxygen delivery. Am I on track with my thinking?

Most races i do are two hours or less on the bike, under 30 minutes running.

If Primo is a good choice anyone use this solo or is it always stacked with others?

Thanks for the input......im a total newbie :chomp:

I am a former endurance athlete and would say there is no AAS that can help... they all have their drawbacks. EPO has crazy sides and primo although mild will still suppress your natural test levels and raise your RBC count just like every other AAS. not good at all.
I've run 5K's while on AAS and although i felt strong early in the race I did lose speed once i get into the 2nd mile. crippling pumps, and getting winded quickly was what i had to deal with, you don't want to build muscle as an endurance athlete in your upper body atleast, that is just extra weight to carry, you obviously know that being 6 feet and just 160.

i would look into an oxygen chamber instead.. that has been proven to work.

Im 37 with a good deal of success within my running background. As ive transitioned to cycle racing im finding my small frame and legs not doing as good on the bike as running. Its crazy to me.....i have guys that almost look to have beer bellies and big old legs riding side by side me on the bike.......while running i would smash them.

Seems to me i need more ability to generate power...ie the questions on Primo. And working to increase o2 uptake would be nice as well.

Any AAS you take will shut you down, no matter how mild.

A good endurance stack would be
TRT dose test
Low dose NPP
HGH
Epo
Maybe halo

no primo, no EQ

I experienced a great deal when I was doing international level track. I had good experiences with EPO, but having a high hematocrit naturally (52%), it wasn't a must for me. If you take it - or if you take it - it's vital you get your blood work done very regularly, because responses vary, even at 2000iu 3 x per week. Because it increases RBC's, provided you doing the right training, it'll increase your lactate threshold and you'll be able to cruise at a higher gear. That's not to say it doesn't help to increase power, but I think the notion that speed in cycling, or anything else, comes directly from leg power.

Primo is fine. I stacked it a couple of times with anavar (and creatine), and found it was good for training endurance and strength gain. But at higher dose (i.e 400mg / week), it will give you some weight gain. You could consider putting an anabolic agent like anavar with a mere testosterone booster (HCGenerate / unleashed) or a designer steroid discussed on the site; but as with any orals I wouldn't do it for longer than 4 weeks... Nandrolone would be good for cushioning your joints, but you may find you bloat on it. It's wasn't one of my favourites when I was running. Don't go anywhere near it if you are going to be drug tested.

I was a high level cyclist and actually had good benefits from primo, test, and var. My RBC went up and oxygen transportation increased, recovery ability increased and strength was great. I was training all the time and did gain weight but definitely improved in performance.

Yes, sides are an issue..but are with anything. I kept doses mild and never had any major issues. I did get shut down and had some acne. You have to have proper on cycle support and PCT. There are products for that.

I never messed with EPO..it always seemed too dangerous to me.

I had issues and still do with protein and carb balance. In those days I used powerbars because I was sponsered by them. I take in too many carbs from supplements and get reactive hypoglycemia as well as GI upset. I just started using the proten bars from needtobuidmuscle.com. I am hoping they are helping me strike a balance to avoid glyocgen crash as well as ameliorate muscle wasting as I train intensly.

Thanks for all the input guys. There will be no testing in what im doing. My days of that level of competition are 10 years behind me.

Crazy how many options there are and combinations.

I am new to this so a simple combo to get my feet wet is also what im looking for. I am in the midst of training season now and won't be racing again until next spring so i have about 9 months to cycle through whatever system.

Not sure if i elluded to this or made it clear but my use for this would be off season.

Would it be so bad to run a few cycles to add some muscle mass and strength with some of the more common routes, then as the spring rolls around and I ramp up my time on the bike i have off cycle to avoid the pump, cramp, etc, issues? Or would the benefits fade quickly?
