Steve, you are 5x's the size of me,...ahahahah. If i were to place my focus on my lower body, even then i don't think in a few years time i would be your size. Im a thin dude. Super high metabolism. Sub 14:20 5k guy in my hayday. I can eat a barrel of trash and not gain a pound. In some cases that has been nice. However having busted my tail for some pretty extended periods in the weight room I did get stronger but very little gain in size....without using. Im just baffled how i have not been able to transition this running ability into performance on the cycle.

when i was running 45 miles per week I was 133 pounds at my low and 5-6% bf. benching 245 pounds. i was a beast but it was lean muscle

now I am 183 and 14% bf. benching 330.

gotta pick your poison. cannot be great at both bodybuilding and running. I enjoyed running but bodybuilding is much more fun IMO and I like the lifters mentality better than the overly cocky runners i dealt with

Couldn't agree more. For years, I would assume I could get away with putting on bulk during the off-season and lean up for summer. In theory, you can if you come of anabolics completely, but then you lose a training aid. I later worked hard to stay close to my racing weight (give or take 8Ibs) all year, then I knew my gains meant something.

And, I got slack in the previous post: 'That's not to say it doesn't help to increase power, but I think the notion that speed in cycling, or anything else, comes directly from leg power [is misplaced].'
