So what my hope is for us to focus on few main things. Focus on them, follow through with every part of the job that needs to be done when it needs to be done. here is the things to focus on. This is the cut and dry black and white set of rules. These rules are not up for discussion by anyone. They are black and white/cut and dry and they will be enforced.
These are the cut and dry rules. The black and white ones. I will explain how we will deal with them at the end.
1. Not allowing anyone to ever publicly say anything bad about the site, its sponsors, its leaders. Even if its " A joke"
jokes can be perceived by others as disrespect and or attacks and will cause others to do the same.
2. Not allow the members to publicly question the rules, the way the site is run, or a mod when they are doing there jobs.
in a pm is fine however we can not and will not allow them to do this in public because we do not have time to deal with it. We run this site and the admin mod the mods not the members.
3. Always look out for the female members at all times. Never ever allow them to be attacked in any way. Never allow them
to be treated wrong by another member. This group of people also fall under the back and white set of rules. If you think its a attack on one of them then it is. Simple as that.
4. Do not allow members to mock the rules. Make fun of the rules, joke about the rules. Anything of this nature means they just broke a black and white rule.
The not so black and white rules are these
4. A good level of respect and take away all the personal attacks. It is fine to joke around but the second we see someone getting angry and calling others names, attacking them, or anything like this we must do something. We should be able to tell the difference between two friends talking and 1 person getting angry and attacking another. However this still falls under gray rules and gray rules way of doing things.
5. New members should be welcomed in and the chat members need to let them know right away and up front that chat is a different place. That people are not really out to get them but just having fun. If we see that this is not getting done and the new member is not getting the idea then we "must" step in and do something. Lock the thread and send them a pm.
6. do not allow anyone to attack a race, sex, creed, gender, sexuality, political party or stand points, a person or a group of people.
Debating is fine and this should be done with respect. not statements like "Muslims are all evil and there culture is disgusting and we should kill them all"
That kind of crap is not going to be allowed here anymore.
Steps for gray Area rules!!!![/COLOR]
Ok I am going to lay out the exact steps that must be taken and the order in which they must be done as well. If you do them in any other order. If you do not do them exactly the way I am laying them out then you did them wrong. Do things wrong enough times and you will not be a part of this team any longer.
This is the order in which all mods will handle anything they deem braking a grey rule.
1.Step One ask the question!!!!!
People need to thicken up there skin. YES TRAZ EVEN YOU AND BIG TIME. Also my self. It is up to the mod to sit down and ask them self. Is this person truly attacking some one? Is this person truly attacking me? Does this person have hate in hid/her heart towards a race, sex, creed, gender, sexuality, political party and if he does is he expressing this hate and attacking some one or a group of some ones. Once you have asked your self this question and you now feel that the Answer is yes. You then need to go and ask that person (offender in questions) this questions "politely" if he does/is too. Then after you have there Answer take that information and sit and ask your self the question again.
Is the person really being races? I mean real races? Is the pic being posted to graphic, is the subject being talked about something we want to allow on this site or will this subject make another person think to them self that they are getting attacked?
Now here is the very very very Important part about all of this. If the Answer is ever yes. If you say to your self yes I am being attacked "directly" or another person is. Yes another person is going to read this and feel like it is a "direct" attack on them. Yes this comment is a "direct" attack on a sponsor, a mod, a female member or a group of people. The person making the comment has hate in is heart and he is attacking some one or something. Then what do we do.
Well one, If something offends you that is not a "direct" attack on you. When something offends another member new,old,black,white, gay or str8 that in no way means that it is a "direct" attack on that person or group of people. So STOP NO AND DONT!! Start over and ask your self one more time. IS IT direct??? Does the person making the comment have hate in his heart and is there intent to directly attack a person,place,or thing that we do not want them attacking? Now you have taken the first step .Once you have made up your mind that the answer to any of the questions above is yes. Then and only then it is time to move onto step two
2. Stop calm down and think. Get a clear head and do not, I repeat do not do anything or speak to anyone with anger in your heart. if you can not clear your mind of all angry thoughts then just walk away right then and there. Do not publicly speak to the person do not say anything to them in public do nothing. Your on step two right now. "The Calm down and clear you mind step". If you can get your self calm then you may move into step 3.
Middle step. If the attack was on a member. If you think a member was attacked go and show them the attack in question and ask them if they feel attacked. if they say no then there is nothing left for you to do. Walk away from the whole thing and leave it alone..... If there is no victim then there is no crime!!!! But if the crime is against a gender,race,cread,politcal party or group of people move forward as well. if the person feels attacked then also move forward. Disregard if the person says not to do anything. The only thing you are concerned with is if they feel attacked or not. That is it. You witnessed a crime as a officer you must move forward with prosecution whether the victim wants it or not. We also do not want people to not care that they were attacked. Like a house wife getting the shit kicked out off herself the act of beating her is still wrong and if you see it then you must press charges.
Also if some one attacks another person in a way that publicly looks bad. Even if the person does not feel like they are attacked. Something must be done about it... Say some one says to another member. " I am going to rape your children you asshole" Well we can not let this fly.
3. Go over what you are going to say to the person in your mind. Make sure that it is respectful . Make sure you word it as a polite and respectful "QUESTION" and not a accusation. Think about what it is you want to find out. Think about what you want to know. If they attacked a member and you asked that member about it and they said they felt attacked. Then also let the member you are now talking to know this. You should form this as a question also " did you know that what you said made so and so feel attacked?"
4. Send the pm and ask the questions you need to ask this member and then wait for a reply. If the reply is taking to long then lock the thread until you get a reply. remember we are on Grey area rules now. If you lock the thread and the person goes and makes another then that is a black and white rule that has been broken. Time out time.
5. You have the Answer they gave you. Now it is time to make a choice about what to do. If the person has given you a good Answer or he/she wants to work with you to change his comment or what ever. You have reached a agreement with the member about how both of you are going to move forward about the event in questions. Then go ahead and move forward with the agreed upon events that are going to take place. Step 5 is about trying to reach a agreement with the member.A agreement About how the both of you are going to handle what you believe may be a problem. If a agreement is made then move forward with it together in the way you have agreed it will be made.
Ie. getting the post/thread off the forums and sending a apology to the member it was directed at. or doing nothing at all. It must be what you feel is best for all parties though. What you both feel is best.
6. If a agreement and understand has not happen. If you still feel like what has happen is a attack on race, sex, creed, gender, sexuality, political party or stand points, a person or a group of people and the person who posted it has done so with hate in there heart. then it is time for step 6.
The 6th step is to then send another pm and notify the poster what you are going to do. When you send this pm you must also CC the Ombudsmen this pm as well. Politely tell them this.
" Dear (posters name),
I am sorry for the misunderstanding, however I feel (state your case). This is what I intend to do about the post/thread in questions ( what you are about to do). I am sorry that we could not see Eye to eye about this particular event in questions and I want you to know that this is nothing against you but these are my feelings,the feelings of the Staff, and this is what needs to be done. I am going to Notify our forums Ombudsmen and inform him/her of all events in question and he/she will contact you at a later time. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Then you will go and you will send the thread to the recycling bin if it is a thread. Or you will delete the post if it is a post. delete all quotes of the post any and all things you need to do to completely clean up the problem. Do not edit the thread or post though leave it the way it is and clean it up. Make sure the Ombudsmen can see what has happen at a later date.
step 7.
CC a ombudsman the entire conversation Give the ombudsmen all the information, the cc on the pm's, links to the event in question and everything he/ she needs so that he can get a very clear understanding of what has happen and what was done.
SO as you can see when it comes to a meh "grey rule" No infractions are given by the mod at this point. Far to many infractions are given for these kinds of things. All that is done at this point is the post/thread you think is out of line is cleaned up and everyone involved knows what is going on and why. Next
I am going to go over what the Ombudsmen will do with events he has been brought in on after. For now I am going to go over what will be done when some one has broken the clear cut black and white rules of the chat forums.
1. If some one has broken one of the black and white rules the thread must be locked instantly. The event must be defused right away. Lock the thread on the spot. If it is a whole thread that is braking the rule then send it to the recycling been. If it is just a post then delete that post but still lock the thread and leave the thread locked.
2.A Insulted Other Member(s) infraction must then be given to the member.
In the "Message to User" you will then "politely" let them know they have broken a rule and let them know what you are going to do with there post and or thread and why. Clearly and respectfully state your case to this person and do so in a way that also makes everything easily understood by everyone who is about to read it because this infraction is going to show up on the mod forums. the mods, the ombudsmen everyone will see the thread.
OK that is what is done with both gray area rules and with black and what rules. Real easy and real simple to go out there and start doing this. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Now we will go over the advanced portion of what we do.
1. If it was a gray Area rule that was broken. The mod and the ombudsman will go over what has happen together. The ombudsman will talk with both the mod and the member and also the member who may have been attacked. He/she is now here to make a choice of his own. It is now his choice to decide if he feels a gray Area rule has indeed been broken. He will do so by the information he collects from all parties and the forums. If the ombudsman also feels a gray Area rule has been broken . then he will let the mod or any mod know he also feels a gray Area rule has been broken and that mod will give the member a infraction for it. The mod giving the infraction will follow the same infraction guide line as if it were a black and white rule being broken. The reason for this is because both my self and ceo plus the ombudsman will be going over this information later to see if further actions are needed and or are going to take place.
2. If a black and white rule has been broken or a gray Area rule has been broken that both the mod and the ombudsmen feels has been broken. Then by now the thread has been locked or sent to the bin and everything has been cleaned up and a infraction has been given. At this time no one has been banned or even timed out. At this time there is a infraction thread on the mod board, and maybe even 2-3-4-5 of them because the member just kept fucking with you and was not getting the point. Now if the member kept messing with you and by the tenth time has still not gotten the point. Well then he just earned him self 10 points and he is now timed out for the night lol... I highly doubt many people in chat or going to get to this point before they get the picture.
However the point is this. The problem is off the forums. That is all we care about. you have cleaned it up and gave them a infraction for it. If you had to do this ten times then so be it, they earned them self a time out. The forums are clean and there is no mass amounts of infractions going on for gray Area stuff or mass bannings going on for back and white rules.
There is now a infraction on the mod forum and that means there is a real problem. My self and CEO Are now involved at this level. My self or CEO will make the choice if this member needs feather reprimanding. Not a mod but ME OR CEO AND THAT IS IT!!!!
We will make this choice by looking over the facts. The members history, what the Ombudsman has to say on the matter ( we will talk with them if we feel the need) and get information from the mods as well.
So here are some bullet points
SO now. If a infraction shows up on the mod board it means 1 of two things now. 1. some one broke a gray rule that both a mod and a ombudsman feels was broken. 2 a member broke a black and white rule. It has gotten to the point that the Ext elite mods need to get involved. Me and CEO are the only ones who will go over the info and make a choice about what will happen to the member at this point. We will talk with all parties involved but we are making the finally choice and no one will give us any shit about our choice. Except admin and the ombudsman that is.
So unless its a spam bought of some kind, NO MOD IS TO EVER BAN ANYONE FOR ANYTHING UNLESS THAT PERSON HAS GOTTEN SO MANY INFRACTIONS THAT THEY GOT AUTO BANNED.
No Mod is to give a infraction for a gray Area rule at all unless the Ombudsman also feels the rule has been broken. SEE HOW THIS WORKS OUT!!!!!!
This next part is very important and all must clearly understand the severity of what is being said next.
The ombudsman need to have skype.com on there computer. They will be given my contact and big rick rocks contact info. We are both of skype.com constantly and we always answer any and all skype I.M's sent to use. Yes even rick does too.
if any time Ombudsmans feel something was not dealt with correctly my any party. If they feel strongly enough that a mod/group of mods, Ext elite mod has acted done something wrong and they wish to get my self or rick involved they can. They can send me or rick a skype.com msg and we will get involved right away...
I have been informed by admin ( big rick rock) that the ombudsman position on this site is to be taken extremely serous and the ombudsman are very important. They are admins way of keeping checks and balances on the mods. What they have to say about say about a mods actions in this site could very well get the mod into a lot of trouble. The ombudsman are now to are now the voice of the people and the eyes and ears of the admin on this forum ( the chat forum not the rest of the forums). So if a ombudsman has a deep enough concern about something. If something is bad enough to were a ombudsman felt he needed to involve admin. A mod could end up in a lot of trouble. What they have to say is dead on serous now!!!!!!!!!! Because the members of this forum must be heard and protected.
I understand that this is a lot of extra work for all of us. I understand that some would love to ether jump right to giving a infraction or banning well others would love to do nothing at all. However this is a system that works. This is a system of checks and balances, protects the site,members,sponsors, and whole groups of people, everyone all at the same time.
It is a system for chat that will work if we all do our jobs and only do things like this when it comes to chat. I KNOW I KNOW!!!! you want to give that infraction so badly because some one said something that offended you. I am sorry you are just not going to do it anymore!!!!!!!!!!! Not unless you have gone through the entire list and have done it right.
Both Gray Area and black and white rules are cleaned up quickly. No one is banned with out a Ext elite mod first going over it. No one is given a infraction for something that may have "offended" you because you cant hack it. The system works.
It does however lean heavily on ombudsman not playing favorites though and I will be the one to make the choice if that is getting done or not.
It is the mods job on chat to keep the board completely clean at all times by doing there job and deleting threads/post that brake black and white rules. Or working with members to get things cleaned up when it is gray area rules being broken. Then to take all rules that have been broken and work ether with the Ombudsman to present the event to Admin or ext elite mods. Or if its a black and white rule cleaning it up and bringing it to us.
I do not know about all of you but I feel this way of doing things. Making it Mandatory that this is the way things are done protects everyone. It may be harder work. You may not get to ban first or infraction first and ask questions later but at the same time the forums are always kept clean.
