Eating while doing cardio

Eating during cardio? LOL! I can't even breath when I'm doing a hard cardio workout. I'd throw up! I sometimes have a protein shake right before then right after, because it digests pretty easily though.

lol ya this is probably a stupid question I might as well have food before and after and up my calories.

Im just wondering since your body uses muscle as energy when you run longer distance, Should i be eating before, during AND after.

Maybe i should get some GEAR and pop some pills every 15 minutes??? :p:p

If your on treadmill, put a box of twinkies on the front of it and just nibble when you get peckish ? lol

Serious note, i never heard of eating during cardio, id probly throw up

Not long ago I was on my elliptical. Just finished a 25g protein shake and had chicken nuggets in one hand and lemonade in the other.

1 time a week to work on your endurance? That wont be enough.

Damn bro! Do you stick with any goal you want? No more 40 time and dunking? Now you want to do endurance work as well?

My advice is DONT TAKE GEAR. Read about training. STOP POSTING.

Well I think it is okay to have lots of goals. He's only 22 and wants to be good at everything. At 17 I feel the same way. Want to have good conditioning, be strong, be a good runner, be a good climber, have good rucksacking times, etc. But I think he does need to start sticking with more straight goals instead of bouncing all around.

lol @ stop posting.

only thing i could see myself digesting during cardio is sipping at a fast carb/protein drink or stopping for a few secs and popping some BCAA tablets.

why not get one of those hats that u put a drink on the top of and it has straws coming down to your mouth lolol

This reminds me of when i was younger and at the pool those bastard adults would allways make us wait 30 mins after eating to get back in the pool. As if eating pizza made me forget that i dont want to drown. The point is it may require even more energy to digest food as well as run thus fucking your over even more?

That is one heck of an idea...

I do my cardio for heart and lung health. Normally 10-15 minutes maximum! But one of those hat systems would be great!

LOL i have better idea, stop posting on my threads.

I never said I wasnt gonna stick to a goal, but I have multiple goals. You make it seem like I have to stick to 1. That might be true if I want MAXIMUM results in that one area, but Id rather get moderate results in ALL areas. You seem to be big and strong but do you think you could run 3 miles non stop?

And how would endurance 1x a week not do any good? If I run 3 miles a week, and get 22 minutes the first time, and next week I get 21:50, well my endurance just got better, didnt it.

And to tell someone to stop posting is pretty lame, thats what this site is for, to learn.

Cardio is just good for overall health if you keep your heart rate down it isnt catabolic at all and the only thing i could think of is energy drinks during your training bro...

Eating solids right before or during cardio is going to cause some stomach issues. Your blood is being pumped your muscles and can not get the food digested. You end up have stomach cramps or stomach ache.

If you need a pick-me up - eat a GU gel pack right before or during. One with caffien helps even more.

Define "run" and "non stop"...

...maybe I can do it with a VERY loose definition...lol

this is not the same with everyone, some people are more sensitive, personally I often eat my pre workout meal then leave for the gym 10mins later. and my pre workout meal is usually chicken and brown rice or steak or something of the sort.

endurance running 1 time a week is not enough to build the actual endurance. like speed training, endurance for running diminishes very quick. waiting 6 to 7 days to do it will not allow for it to build up to any appreciable level. if you want to run for endurance, i would probably set aside 3 days a week for it. just to let you know though, the form, tempo, and muscles used in endurance running will conflict with cns innervation for explosive sprinting meaning by trying to gain in both, you will be negatively affecting the other - mainly your sprinting will get worse.

I am not so sure you want to learn.

How am i not building endurance? I am just not at a very fast rate. Which is my goal because for summer next year is when Ill have to do 300yd gassers, and ill get my endurance in then. I just want to be semi-ready for it. I think training endurance 0x a week is worse than 1x. I just want to be healthy mainly not be able to run a marathon

You really think running 3 miles a week, 1x a week will make my sprints worse? Its a totally different style of running.. Im only trying to gain 3-5 seconds off my 3 mile time every week.

endurance running requires slow twitch fibers to be trained for long training sessions. sprints and explosive lifts/movements require fast twitch. they are trained completely different. time under tension isnt even close. endurance = long periods speed/explosiveness = seconds. if trained like a hockey player or soccer where its sprint into run and then sprint, you can get longer periods but size isnt usually an issue in these sports and it is for yours, if you really try to play football.

its training in a manner where youre making your body compete against itself to make progress. makes no sense from a training standpoint.

yea that makes sense, thanks for clearing it up.

Like I said IM not training for endurance, I just want to run 3 miles 1x a week to get used to it. That shouldnt bother with my other training too much.

I doubt you are doing enough cardio to notice the difference. If he is talking true endurance training, 30 min to 1 hr cardio, eating is difinately going to have issues eating right before or during.

If you are able to eat like that and run 5 miles without issues, consider yourself in a very low percentile of people who can pull that off.

My buddy takes glucose packs with him when he runs but he does marathons!!!
A lil cardio that would be overkill IMO

Well when u try and promote your business you shouldnt be an ass, thx for the comment though.

To be quite honest, and maybe it shouldn't be said or isn't important, but the posts that I read by "future" would hit someone like myself and catch my eye. Not only would ONLY a serious athlete come to him for advice...he would also be very likely to turn away any athlete that wasn't serious.

For this reason...I'd like to save up and become at least a part-time client of his just because I believe that I MIGHT could learn something from him if I listen and ask lots of questions.

I believe this because I run a center for Autistic families, Doctors, and other professionals and we are at the point that if anyone working with us or paying us to work with/for them does not show 100% seriousness...we cut them no matter how much $$$ it costs us. It simply is not worth our time. And we are talking $300-500 an hour clients.

I wouldnt waste my money on someone telling me i cant do it. Its not impossible to get stronger and faster at the same time but the big guy thinks so. I dont want to be a wound up ball. I want to be athletic and be able to run and dunk and bench 405 so im gonna train for all those

Yeah but it is impossible to be the fastest you could possibly be and the strongest you could possibly be. But I think you could get a pretty damn good combo :D
