Eating snack cakes, more dangerous than smoking weed?

OOOoooooo. Yes, I can eat a snack cake while driving. I can change the radio station too!!! Occasionally, I talk to the passenger riding next to me! I guess I just like living on the edge!!

And as anyone who has driven both a car and a motorcycle knows, it takes substantially less concentration to safely operate a car than ride a bike. Thus, if you cannot accept the harsh reality that all automobile drivers are not going to ride around town with their hands firmly planted at 10 and 2 just to ensure your personal safety, then stick to public transit or your big wheel and STFU.

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Drivers who do something else while steering -- eating, talking on a telephone, putting on makeup, scolding children, even doing a crossword puzzle -- are the target of a new public awareness campaign launched Tuesday. It warns that such distractions can be dangerous, even deadly.

The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety, a coalition of government and corporate members interested in reducing traffic accidents, estimates that one-quarter to one-half of the roughly 6 million crashes each year are caused by distracted drivers.

'On a daily basis, that's somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000 to 8,000 crashes,' said Mark Edwards, managing director of traffic safety programs for the American Automobile Association, a member of NETS. "

Stephen King got pwned by a snack cake eating driver or at least a distracted driver.

I suppose in a perfect world no one would engage in ANY behaviors that are detrimental to their health but come on, who hasn't done SOMETHING that they knew was impacting their health in a negative fashion?

My last post, for example, was designed to empower a child's decision-making process with knowledge and also with the ability to be able to "indulge a bit" but also know when enough is enough. I suppose one could take anything and make it excessive and have it yield a negative result on one's health and well-being, like eating too much period. Calories in vs calories out. Oatmeal, eggs, yams, veggies are all good healthy foods yet if one consumes more calories than their body burns then they WILL gain bodyfat.

The arguement about recreational drug use - alcohol, pot, crystal meth, etc... legal vs illegal. Sound arguement I suppose and I also don't know very many crystal meth users who are productive members of society but there ARE many functional alcoholics and potheads, I suppose...

Driving while eating, talking on the cell or w/your full attention. Obviously we are the safest drivers when not exhausted and/or distracted. Goodness knows how many times I should not have been on the road when any number of my children was wailing relentlessly at the tops of their baby lungs, or been pushed to the limit while hearing the old, "She's looking out my window" arguement, not having slept more than a few scattered hours for YEARS... but I had to get myself and my children from point A to point B regardless.

... just sayin'.

We are all intelligent enough (or at least one would hope) to know that many of the arguements posted here are exaggerated and pretty much designed to egg the other on. IMHO not very productive?...

Meh... WTF do I know. :whatever: Goodness knows I have rolled in the mud waaaaaaaaaaay too often in my day.
