So you want to be a MOD also?? Just follow these easy steps to immediate MOD HOOD.

1. Be ultra-liberal (bonus points if you are also homosexual or bi-sexual)
2. Post or reply with strict liberal dogma...vehemently insist that all who disagree are either homophobic, right-wing facists, or racist
3. Ramble on incoherently in your replies and avoid direct answers to questions posed to you always using the biggest words you know
4. Ignore all facts that contradict your strict dogmatic positions

these steps will get you immediate MOD HOOD versus taking the long way such as WODIN who has been here several years, has thousands of posts, is level headed and generally middle of the road in his posts and opinions. Actually, WODIN I'm amazed you made it as you are probably the most qualified to actually be a mod.

Cornholio is also very deserving of the mad status. He has great knowledge of exercise and fitness (he's a part time personal trainer) as well as a good understanding of science and chemicals (he's a chemist), something this site needs considering it's very nature.

Yes I'm liberal but I've never been ultra-liberal. You're probably refering to RyanH. Yes he's one of the most liberal guy here, but he's always had good arguments. No one can deny it. Even if I agree with only 30% of his ideas I must admit the guy has knowledge.

Well fine, count the overseas ballots. I don't have a problem with that, but according to an exhaustive report in the New York Times a few months ago, most Republican overseas ballots were counted while Democratic overseas ballots were not counted.

Thus, one favorable standard was applied to then Governor Bush that was not applied to then Vice-President Al Gore. Remember, Spentagn, as I've grown tired of reminding you---consistency is a virtue.

Of course, the United States Supreme Court disregarded consistency as well when it ignored all legal precedent and handed the victory to "President" Bush.

Ryan, quit your condescending bull shit. If Gore weren't such a complete fucking idiot, he'd be in office right now. His inability to run an effective campaign played a major role in his not running away with the election. He was too dumb to associate himself with his popular President, and therefore couldn't claim partial credit for all the success. How about you present an arguement that isn't based on the spin put out by the DNC? And, before you toss that question back at me, Republicans hate to hear shit like what I just mentioned.

Your argument might have merit, if all I was putting forth is spin, but spin it is not. Why don't you visit the archives at the New York Times at www.NYT.com for a report on how similar overseas ballots that were counted for President Bush were not counted for Vice-President Gore. Local election officials threw-out overseas ballots in favor of Vice-President Gore while counting overseas ballots that favored President Bush. These are facts. Check, if you don't believe me, but then, facing the facts can be hard to do for those wanting to avoid the light.

I'm also glad to hear that you have finally admitted that 1) President Clinton was a popular president, and 2) that President Clinton was indeed successful. We have agreed, glad you moved my way.

Being a mod, especially here, is nothing more than being a digital janitor. Taking a lot of flak from users and thankless work.

The problem is, people like Ryanh tend to delete threads simply because he does not agree with the thread's stance.

What I *AM* trying to convey to George is that adding mods every fiscal quarter without getting rid of the useless ones a recipe for failure.

And the ridiculous has replied. You mentioned the "lock/delete hungry mods", you think people are sitting at a computer just waiting to delete? Has any of the threads that have been deleted, locked, etc had any effect on you in the real world? No, or at least I hope not. Again, who cares. These words I speak are the exact same when new mods were announced a year ago. Why cry about something that is completely irrelevant?

havoc, I'm not looking to get into this, because for the most part I don't care. But the counter arguement to this is obvious: Why bitch and get a thread locked, or ask for a user to be banned? If none of this matters, why take offense at anything said?

What I'm doing may not affect anyone in real life, what I'm doing is pointing out that adding mods every few months is eventually going to add to the failures and shortcomings of the board.

So, take a step back from your pc and breath easier knowing that, in real life, no one cares that you are a digital janitor for elitefitness. :)

and you've spoken again without the facts on your side....I have been accused on several occassions of locking/deleting threads when the responsibility was with another mod. Further, if George disagrees with what I edit or delete he could easily tell me since he has access to the functions mods perform.

Everything I've deleted or edited has been for a very good reason. Your attempts to make me the scapegoat has failed repeatedly.

and am in agreement. We may differ though on your definition of "useless mods" though. I guess you can call me one of the "conservative" moderators. You may not see my voice much on the boards, but I watch and listen and act. I have no problem expressing my opinion and have no problem listening to yours.

I was always under the belief for instance that homosexuality was a sin. I now know more gay men and women who are truly my friends and I respect them immensely. Had I not become a member of this board, I would never have had that opportunity to talk to them, express my opinion, and actually focus on their opinions as well.

I may not agree with everything a person does, but that does not take away or add to what that person really is.

I guess as far as the comment on what it actually takes to be a mod, I am glad I have been in the ranks long enough to know better.

Spentagn cannot.. now.. there are as many MODS as regular users... so 1/2 of what is posted is gonna be either locked or fucked with. There are 33 MODS on this board.

D Baller, I still am a critic of actions that mods take and disagree 99.9% of the time, for example, anything locked or edited today is ridiculous in my opinion. I was asked to be a mod and I accepted, and grateful. Just because someone becomes a mod does not mean they are tyrants. Simply means they were asked and accepted, nothing more, nothing less. I don't see me editing, deleting, etc unless its completely out of order(like beastiality or something that extreme). There is no need to point out my past, I am fully aware of it and have done nothing to contradict it either.

It's not an US vs Them issue for me.

It's a simple mathematical problem, a high mod:user ratio. It's way out of hand. It's going to bring more power-trips and a lot more user disatisfaction....the pop-ups (which I haven't seen due to junkbuster) seem to have pissed enough people off already.

I say give the mods more power, give them all a pager and let them administer to the site. Let's see how many want to give up their moderator title in a month or two.

I think Warik puts little pictures in when he edits one.. he edits mine sometimes.. but at least I know it was him.

Here is my take on all this bullshit. I come to the chat board for only two reasons.

1. Discuss politics

2. Read all the flame fests and insults that get thrown around on this board. I love it. Without all this drama and flaming, this board would be boring as hell.

I love watching people get pissed off or get their feeling hurts. It only proves to me that there are some weak-ass individuals in this world.

You've misunderstood what I said which is simply that George has the capabilities to see the functions mods perform. If George receives a complaint he can look to see what mod did the editing or deleting.

There are too many Mods on this board.
None of the Mods are going to admit it because they dont want to loose their power. Its like a new toy to a little kid, you basically have all the power you want over the rest of us. Probably most of the delted or locked threads are based on personal preferance.

Plus George advertises that by paying for a platinum membership and giving him money you have a good chance of becomming a mod. So basically he is selling the position, its nothing of honor that you get because you deserve it. We have some good mods here but others are just jokes. Im sure even some of the mods can agree with all of this although they wont admit it...
