Dump this client?

New member
Had a new client 4 weeks ago, who since our consult, calls me, txt me and tries to skype me all the time.
He asks me out for dinner, coffee etc.

He's never said anything inappropriate, but his invites are out of line.
I'm short and to the point with him, but I worry that when he has his follow up in a few weeks, he will get even more aggressive.

Dump him? Discuss

Be straight up and say no, tell him that this is your job and that clients are off limits or that your seeing someone...

this, claim professional boundaries..if they can't respected fire him as a client
 
My certification clearly states that any relationship outside of a professional stand point is unethical. You can always rely on that but as far as getting him to lay off, I don't know what to tell you :P

I almost feel shy to tell him he's crossing the line. When I'm professional and short with him when he asks, I figure he'll get it.
He has a wife and kids as well, but who knows, maybe he's just lonely and needs to talk, but I feel uncomfortable.

Dropping him would mean losing good money also. He buys a lot of supplements from me as well.

How do you claim boundaries without making the guy not feel uncomfortable.
I keep it so very professional. He knows many of my mutual friends so I think he feels he can be a "bud" and I've never talked to him in a bud way.

I mean hell, we talked for 30 mins about his bowel movements and prostate ;-) How unsexy can it get?!

just don't get all emotional in it. continue to treat it like a business relationship. next time he asks, turn it into a double date with his wife and he will probably back off, maybe
 
I have been good at treating it professional, but when he comes to see me for his follow up, I worry about him asking me again. I want to say something like "thanks for the offer, but I need to keep our relationship professional"
Or "My boyfriend is HUGE and has a crazy temper and he will be here in 5 mins to mess you upppppp" ;-)
 
i'd go with telling him the "keep professional" and keep making money off his dumb ass
 
I never had issues with reading the "riot act" to clients when I had my other business, but this is a business where you need to be gentle.
 
it still applies kinda. just due to it being your business, and you really need business doesn't mean you should let shit slide. You may not want to upset him. But if you don't nip this one, imagine rumors about you. "pixie dust chic is also a homewrecker" that could be bad for business

If you would allow him to have at least a 10 minute casual conversation with you about your interest and ideas im sure he would quickly change his mind.

In the US you're required to wait 3 years after you've last treated someone. I doubt she even counts towards real policies etc from a governing board though. I say she sets up a 3 some.
