Dumbell Rows - Technique question

RobertFontaine

New member
When I'm doing dumbell rows should try to hold my shoulders back. i.e Try to squeeze my shoulder blades together throughout the motion or should I slouch, roll my shoulder forward at the extension.

Note that this is with a heavy row, heavy for me anyhow (> 1/2 bodyweight).

The reason I ask is I'm not sure whether the shoulder movenment will strengthen my shoulder or just tear up my rotater cuff.

Thanks...

:)

Natural stretch just short of absolute in order to maintain tension followed by a natural full contraction. Of course, listen to your body: if you don't feel pain in your shoulder until you allow the stretch to a certain point, don't go to that point.

Pull the dumbbell to your hip. Much more difficult... It makes the movement more effective.
