dude there are ladybugs everywhere!!1

fuggin lady bugs everywhere, i walked into a cloud of them leaving work, they're in my apartment, on my car, i can't escape them. everyone in CT, Mass and NY is being attacked.

if i ever disappear, it's cuz they picked me up and fed me to their queen, which is a 2008 VW New Beetle with those black stickers on it and a tulip next to teh steering wheel
 
I'm in Ontario....swarmed up here too. The exterior of my house is covered in them...they like to sit on the warm walls during the day. I've killed about 12 of them in the house in the past two days.
 
Aren't they those Japanese beetle version of something that looks like a Ladybug? I remember my moms house was swarming with them a few years back. i've only seen a couple this fall, but they have all been in my apartment and in the last week. hate those fucking things!

Thissy here. They are called Asian Lady Bugs and were imported from Asia to help control the aphid populations in crops (in my area, soybean). This link is from 1999:

...and at the time they couldn't appreciate how they would proliferate. They didn't expect them to establish based on certain parasites they thought would keep them in balance, but the beetles appear to have migrated very fast. And they DO pinch! lol
 
woah, i didn't know it was across states. I was out last night and my daughter sent me a text message that our house was being invaded by ladybugs.
 
Usually the swarms of purple martins(birds)Show up as well and feed on them.
 
one time i was weed wacking and i wacked into a bigass pod of them it was sweet.

down south it was to protect the pecan trees. . .anyplace where it's warm year round, they aren't a problem, because they stay outside. . .but here, where it gets cold, and the leaves fall off the trees, they go NUTS. . .they live in the woods all spring/summer long, then they make a mad dash for the indoors. . .friggin' vermin. . .we were better off with the aphids, i'm sure. . .they were ALWAYS around, and no one was starving to death. . .
 
it warmed up for a few days and now they're everywhere around me and in my house. I probably have at least a hundred of em in my shopvac.

Actually, i'm not 100% pos on this, but I heard that they don't actually pinch, but infact their shit, yes their poop is actually acidic and it makes your skin feel like it's being pinched (but it's actually a skin reaction to the lady bugs shitting on you)


they also smell when you squish them

im curious as to what they would taste like??

Apparently, along with their nasty smell they taste awful, hence not many predators so they proliferate to the level of nuisance...that's my understanding anyway.
 
according to BB's article they can live up to 3 yrs!
and they don't bite/sting,,,they release a harmless orange piss
when stressed
