These "ducks" threads have certainly turned out to be quite a success. (Wonder why?)
Anyway, latest update. This morning the mother has pushed one of the little ducks out of the nest. He is laying in the driveway, having trouble breathing. It is so sad. She pushed him out and he is laying there in the hot sun. Little chest heaving up and down. I don't think he will make it much longer. I took a yard stick and pushed him back in the grass under some shade. I just hope if he dies, it is quick before some cat gets him.
Other than that... she has about 9-10 other ones in there. They are all walking and jumping around. When I was moving the sickly one, one of them came waddling out of the bushes like he was my friend. The mother pinched him with her bill and hauled him back. But he just came walking out of there like "Hey mannnnn.... what you doing with that stick?"
They should be making their way down towards the lake by tomorrow. Where the alligators wait. ARrrgghhh... my babies. My babies. (I already got attached to them now)
I also got up at 6am just to go out there and show the maintenance crew where they were so they wouldn't spray that area with weed killer.
