Ducks in yard - Part 3

AAP

These "ducks" threads have certainly turned out to be quite a success. (Wonder why?)

Anyway, latest update. This morning the mother has pushed one of the little ducks out of the nest. He is laying in the driveway, having trouble breathing. It is so sad. She pushed him out and he is laying there in the hot sun. Little chest heaving up and down. I don't think he will make it much longer. I took a yard stick and pushed him back in the grass under some shade. I just hope if he dies, it is quick before some cat gets him.

Other than that... she has about 9-10 other ones in there. They are all walking and jumping around. When I was moving the sickly one, one of them came waddling out of the bushes like he was my friend. The mother pinched him with her bill and hauled him back. But he just came walking out of there like "Hey mannnnn.... what you doing with that stick?"

They should be making their way down towards the lake by tomorrow. Where the alligators wait. ARrrgghhh... my babies. My babies. (I already got attached to them now)

I also got up at 6am just to go out there and show the maintenance crew where they were so they wouldn't spray that area with weed killer.

oh no, can u do anything for him?

Other than push him in the shade, I don't think I can do anything. His eyes never opened. His little chest looks like he is hyperventilating.

I wanted to cry.

omg thats so sad....
years ago, i was getting off work, and there was this very pregnant cat walking around. she looked so hungry and stuff.....so i took her home with me, put her in the bathroom that night and she had the kittens that night. Well, my landlord wouldnt let us have pets in the house so we put them outside....on the back porch in a box with a blanket
it was cold weather too. so the next morning i went to check on her and the kittens and she had crawled out of the box and drug them out with her, and iddnt even try to put them back, so they were almost froze to death. so me and my brother took them in the house and warmed them up and they were ok for a day or so....but i guess the weather got them, and they all got pneumonia.....and 1 by 1 they died.....it was so sad....
but the thing is, the momma cat wouldnt have anything to do with them.....I had to feed them with a bottle......or hold her down and MAKE her let them feed....i have never really liked cats after that tho.....even tho i know something must have happened for her to do that to them.....it was just so sad

That is so Darwinian... it's sad but it is the only way Natures knows... no waasting of resources on the ones who have less chances of making it...

Funny enough, we humans are the only animals who constantly try and break this basic rule, and boy, do we pay dearly... Attachment can be so painfull.

Hope this one does not turn into a Drama Soap-Opera...

Just step on it! Take it out of it's misery. That would be the right thing to do.

j/k

You know for some reason, cats and ducks will push their young away like that. I don't know why. Sometimes because they are sickly, but other times for unknown reasons.

I am going to cry if I have to go back out there and look at it again.

:(

That is so sad

You will really be crying when all these Ducks you love so dearly
today, start squirtin shit all over your porch and driveway soon.

Ducks are tastey. Especially hunan, peking or Vietnamese.

Good one Wodin...Duck a'la Orange ain't too bad. I'd have a problem if I knew the duck before hand, though.

I used to live in an apartment complex in GA, and there were 6 full grown white ducks that used to lounge outside my apartment. For a while I left the screen door to the screened in porch open for a while, put food out...I had ducks like the Peabody.

You ever eat one of 'em?

Your turning into Tony Soprano as I predicted. Panic attacks will start soon.

For the sick one, just let it be, nothing you can do.

Youve already helped out the others.

This would be extremely hard to do, but if that little one is sick, not eating or drinking, unable to see and being ignored by its mother, would putting it out of its misery quick and clean be the humane thing to do?

IT'S A MIRACLE!!! THE SICKLY ONE HAS REVIVED.

A little six year old girl in the neighborhood came by and saw it. In the infinite wisdom of children.. what did she do? She stuck it back in the nest. With her hands. (more on this later.)

I have some pics I just took. I am going to post them up now. But the one near death is now wobbling around. Still a little slow.

Here come the pics.

Here they are coming back from their walk. The sickly one is the one trailing behind. But hey... he's moving, eating and drinking water.

As you can see, some of them couldn't wait to get wet. They took water, like.. well - ducks.

you can see the little sickly one trying to jump up the brick and hop in the water dish too.

Aww, the ducks are so cute.

lmfao @ the picture someone emailed you of the ducks going down the drain!

He is going to go to hell for that.

These are not "just ducks".

These are legendary ducks. After their thread ran roughshod over EF last night, they will live forever.

In the minds of everyone here with awe and wonder. People will whisper their names around the water cooler for years to come.

In 2027, a 15 year old will do an internet mind scan for the words "DNA Genetic Manipulation" and come across EliteFitness. After a virtual memory download, he will check out the rest of the columns... including BEST OF ELITE and there he will come across their thread.

Movies will follow. Cults will be born. Everyone far and wide, will relive the adventures of AAP and his ducks for centuries to come.

And if they don't, AAP will just edit everyones posts to say they did, then start a dozen threads explaining how he imagines himself to be so clever.

Considering your last whupping you received on a thread with "ducks" in the title, you should try to avoid clicking on any other ones like it.

The crying and bitching when you said I hacked your account and read your PMs was especially a nice touch. A perfect way to cap off your downward spiral throughout the evening.

Notice it was going fine until cry baby showed up. You know, come to think of it...... his post WAS inappropiate for my thread.

My thread looks much better now.

Back to the ducks....

Anyone know how long after hatching it is before they attempt to head to the water? I have seen a few false starts in that direction. But nothing yet.

I need to know so I make sure Channel 10 gets out here fast enough.

I am going to watch them a bit and throw more crackers out. If anyone needs me - blow up my beeper.
