Getting DSL from Verizon was a major pain in the ass. They screwed up just about anything and everything. But once I got it, it kicks ass. I've had cable for years but if you're close to a CO, DSL is BETTER imho. According to cnet's Bandwith meter (http://webservices.cnet.com/bandwidth/), I'm gettting 1131 kbps (down) and I'm not sharing bandwith with anyone. Cable can rarely do that.

I just went there and tested mine 640 damn I guess that`s slow. Half of yours. lol Is there a way to increase speed? They say it depends on the programs you have running...

640 is not bad, most people who share a T1 at work don't even get that. There's little difference between 640 and 1131 if you're just browsing the web, you'll notice more of a difference if you're downloading a large pdf or mp3 file. But that stuff you can usually wait for anyway.
The only way I know of to increase your DSL speed is to move closer to the CO (the "Central Office" where your phone line is hooked up to the backbone)... I'm just a few blocks away which is why I'm getting a fast connection.
