dry hands

my hands are super dry. its worst right after i get out of the shower and have to get dressed with hands that feel like sandpaper.

does anyone know of really GOOD hand lotion? like, better than plain old jergens or whatever, but something for SERIOUSLY dry skin?

I don't care about the cost, but i would like it to smell good. I have one that I think i paid like $15 for and it smells heavenly (mint and grapefruit) from bath and bodyworks I think. It is better than regular lotion, but i want something better if i can find it.

anyone ever tried Tru Blu Spa? I might have to splurge on that if i can't find anything better.

EUCERIN is the best. and it wont irritate your skin. but it is REALLY thick

good. I want thick stuff. it seems to stay on better and I have VERY sensitive skin, so that's good.

(while we're at it, maybe you can tell me a good nighttime moisturizer for my face for sensitive skin)

Or JOhnson and JOhnson has this AWESOME hand lotion.
I keep this in my purse in the winter

yes brb i'll tell you what I use

Cornhuskers lotion, but it's heavy.

The BEST way is to really slather them up, after you've taken a shower so the skin is still moist, and then put on cotton gloves (now where to get cotton gloves, shit if I know).

Eucerine is good, no odor, neutrogena and shea butter are good too. Creams are better than lotions.

i can't look at cornhuskers lotion without thinking of anal sex. sorry.
lol
i saw once that its also good to slather on petroleum jelly before bed, then put socks or gloves on your hands, but i can't bring myself to do this.
thanks MM, i think i'll try the eucerine.

you might try a brand called Roc. seem to recall its being good.

remaining hyrdated and using a humidifier might help as well.

or you could just flick the bean.

I had some issues with dry skin last winter. I was getting my hands to bleed they were so dry especially my fingertips, and I tried EVERYTHING. I finally went to the Dr. and he told me to go to Walmart and go to the pharmacy. He said to tell them my dr told me to ask them for Amlactin 12% hand lotion. It's made for people with extra dry and sensitive skin. They keep in behind the counter because of theft issues I was told but I didn't need a scrip. Since my doc told me to come and specifically ask for it, I bought it. It's $20 a bottle but it worked in 4 days.

Or you can buy it online here as I do now instead of going to Walmart. They raised the price on me to more than this place. I'm telling you, this stuff works flat out. I'll make you a deal, if it doesn't work, I'll buy it from you.

Here is a link to the compnay that makes it.

Hmm... I seem to remember having one of those in my room when I was younger. Putting some humidity into the dry air would probably help, too.

:cow:

here my problem.my hands never dry out.in fact they get so sweaty that they crack from being wet all the time.if I put lotion on my hands they would split wide open to the point I would have to get stitch's.I need some thing that will dry my hands out.

Im huge into lotions and creams for my face, body, and feet. I'm also compulsive about chapsticks. I have a million different kinds in my purse, at work and at home

huh. that stuff looks like some serious moisturizer, but i bet i could use it.
thanks sir!

Yep. That's what I use. My hands get rough from work. I wear rubber gloves most of the day and use a lot of hand sanatizer='s dry, cracked hands. That's what I use and it keeps my hands soft.

Chapstick = my biggest addiction.

If I don't have it, I go into psychotic, violent withdrawls.

I would get amlactin as well. My doc told me this stuff is the best thing you can put on your skin as far as lotions go. It's a excellent PH for skin and I would bet it will help as well. I always put a small bit on at night now before bed and no more cracked or split/dry hands.

I rarely gush over a product but this stuff sold me 4 days in and has worked wonders ever since.

neutrogena healthy skin anti-wrinkle night cream

hmm! i'll give it a shot. i think i had something by neutrogena that I loved- it was a moisturizer for sensitive and acne prone skin. it worked and didn't irritate me. Maybe i'll get this one for nighttime.

I always feel like I should stick to the same manufacturer or i end up with problems. it sucks to be pale.

when i worked in a kitchen in college, i got horrible dermatitis from my hands being wet all the damn time (i washed a lot of dished and never used gloves) and every lotion I used caused sever irritation because of the fragrance in them. even the ones with no smell contain some sort of fragrance. i had to go to the dermatologist to get some special stuff. that dermamtitis was horribly painful. having your skin be wet all the time is not good for your skin,

I've tried almost everything. over the years. I even use this as a aftershave lotion now. :)

buy some crackcream. I am not sure but I do believe that is the actual name of it. It is made for cracked skin and such, works great!

ill try it

I'm telling all of you guys, no mater if you have sensitive skin, rough skin, wrinkled skin etc, this amlactin is what you need. it's a scrip lotion that is PH balanced for the skin so no rashes, no zits, just smooth soft skin. You all can ditch that other stuff, it's used toilet water compared to this.

I hear ya. Im pale too. I stick with neutrogena for all my facial stuff - eye makeup remover, cleansers, toners, masks, moisturizers for day and night, as well as special eye cream.
lol in the mornings I use 3 different moisturizers on my face

I think the best thing you can do is to put your hands in a bag full of lard or butter or something like that and let em get all sweaty and gross.

Otherwise I think Burt's Bees Wax is supposed to be good.

i am a bit too- but i have to be careful about the stuff on my face.
my hands easily crack and bleed. between the winter dry air and the fact that I wash my hands a lot, then work with them, i always have at least one bleeding knuckle.

I have an AWESOME lip balm/gloss that I LOVE. Its in my car but i'll let you know what it is tomorrow.

My hubby always has chapstick. ALWAYS.

i'm only at 2. one for eyes (loreal), one for the rest (currently using that yellow looking moisturizer by clinique).
If i deviate from that at all, i get splotchy skin.

I'm out of the usual neutrogena one I use if my skin is breaking out, but maybe i'll just get all new stuff by them for day and night. I'll keep my receipt and return it if I don't like it.
i've never done that, but i know i can.

that's for puffy under eyes, which i don't have.
i don't even really have wrinkles. i'm still getting over my teenage years.

yeah ive used that antio-wrinkle/anti-acne stuff ny neutrogena before but i never found my skin to be any more clear than it was without using it. I do use their cleanser that contains benzopyl peroxide though so that helps too

yeah, it probably didn't help me much either, but it didn't make anything worse, so i stuck with it.

Spa At Home by Nature's Rennaisance. Wifey bought it for me at one of those booths at the mall. My hands get seriously dried out in the winter, from solvents & dirt at work. Sea Salts & other crap. Works really good.

i just spent $52 at drugstore.com

i got the hand lotion ryker reccommended, plus the neutrogena stuff smurfy said, and I got a burts bees daytime moisturizer to try.

and a red lipstick.

Nice, you will like the results. The lotion feels heavy when you put it on but just go to sleep at it will do it's magic. :D I always put mine on right before bed but my wife hates it becaseu the TV remote is all gooey. lol

and you have convinced her it's the "lotion" lol.

I've read that flicking the bean helps.

Actually, I've read it on this very thread.

Multiple times.

Also, Cedaphil is an otc moisturiser that seems to work for me. Costco has it by the bucket full. KISS Why go all out if you don't have to.
