My buddy has this policy in front of him....i told him i doubt they are gonna test him for gear but what do you think?......here is the policy

The policy bans using alcohol, illegal drugs, unauthorized prescription drugs and prescription and over-the-counter drugs that are abused.

well ask yourself this.... "is gear and illegal drug"? is the job worth it to loose it before he even had it?

"over-the-counter drugs that are abused" - I wonder what they're talking about with that one.

Typically law enforcement jobs and the like won't medically test you for steroids. I know it doesn't cost as much as most people think but times it buy a few thousand applicants and we're talking money and time. And it really isn't that big of a problem.
Now the only trouble he might have is if a polygraph is involved. They may ask all sorts of questions, including have you ever used illegal drugs.

No worries

28 bucks? Standard for a cheap EMIT test. They're looking for opiates, cannabinoids and things like that. You need CS/CG (also referred to CS/MG) for that. It is usually given:

1. When there is an "inconclusive" EMIT test.

2. In certain higher sensitivity positions (cops, pharmacists, etc).

3. If someone has more money then they know what to do with. Fortunately, most of them are either invading countries or bankrupt.

EMIT does NOT test for gear. 80% of the drug tests out there use this system, as the others are prohibitively expensive. What IS used for steriods is a variation on CS/MG called HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). Also VERY expensive.

There is one more called RIA which uses radioactive iodine. The government uses this one as well and it is damn near impossible to beat. It, too can detect steriods.

In other words? Don't sweat it. But for the rest of you, finding out what type of test it is can ease your mind.

:D :D :D
