drinking booze in a brown paper bag?

My friends were drinking 40's in brown paper bags in Times Square. One of their bags tore open and he was written up by a cop, but the rest were fine. So as long as it's conceiled you're fine. The law might vary from place to place though.

there is no way drinking outa a paper bag makes it legal...the cop mighta let them slide, but this is certainly not legal! a lil too "gangsta" for me! the fact is, kids arent walking around the suburbs drinking fortys outa paper bags...u see it in cities, where cops have more important shit to do!
